Rupert I Alven

Emperor Rupert Alven (a.k.a. The Great)

Rupert was the eldest son of Emperor Maxmilian (AKA Bengwaz Alven) of the Holy Gilder Empire and Queen Gracia the First of Sigswald. He was coronated by his lord father in Erikste following the passing of his mother in 20 R.D. He would inherit the Silver Throne a mere four years later, becoming the second Emperor of the HGE.   Rupert secured the northeastern frontier of the Empire through the establishment of the Margraviate of Bukholte. He conquered the Vuscovi territories of Botaja and Žigs'dal, expanding Sigswald's western expanse. Perhaps most notably, he managed a feat that had eluded his legendary father: bringing the Diarchy of Gairov fully into the Empire (though with a high degree of autonomy) when he defeated King Boroslau III of Mydyl and Queen Keldwa of Otkar after a long and costly military campaign.   Already ravaged by gout, an elderly Rupert was laid low by pneumonia in 69 R.D. He had no surviving legitimate issue at the time of his passing.
