Many astrologers of
Toril once believed that Coliar contained endless oceans. In truth, Colair was a gas giant enveloped by a 100-mile-thick layer of clouds. Below the cloud cover was nothing but air, dotted with countless floating islands that orbited the planet’s center of gravity at vastly different altitudes.
Geography
The islands varied in size and were all uniquely shaped containing every land feature most could think of, such as lakes, rivers, hills, grass, trees, and caves. Built atop the topmost islands were extremely tall wooden structures that pierced the planet’s top clouds and were visible from wildspace. These towers served as guides for spelljammers arriving through the clouds to the docking ports below.
Government and Trade
There were three sentient populations living on Coliar.
The lizardfolk lived under communistic rule, equally sharing wealth and power. Their spelljammers belonged to the entire population and were mainly used to hatch their young close to the sun.
The aarakocra were scattered but mostly democratic with leaders being chosen by the community and serving very long terms. The leader of the largest clan was Alekra Donakkis. All important government posts were occupied by females.
The dragons kept a neutral peace with the other populations believing it to be a symbiotic relationship. They mostly ignore ships unless provoked.
Notable Locations
The two most popular ports of Coliar were
Hisssta and
Athanar.
