Limbo's Crossing

Limbo's Crossing is the entrance to the afterlife. Deep in the Land of Gods, this place is rarely visited by mortals and next to impossible to get to without the aid of a god. Only the God of Death, ghosts, and Shia's Dead are able to fully enter Limbo. The mouth of the cave is specifically called Limbo's Crossing, and as far as mortals can reach. No maps exist to reach this place, and outsiders can only get so close before violent death magics begin to take effect, slowly killing them. The undead may pass without harm into Limbo, however only those that Shia allows can exit once they've entered.       There is no turning back.

Geography

The location of Limbo's Crossing and its surrounding geography is quite unknown and shrouded in mystery. It is widely assumed that the entrance to Limbo lies within the Land of Gods, but exactly where remains a mystery. What is known about Limbo's Crossing is that it lies on an island in the center of a lake, surrounded by hills and old growth forests, untouched by mortals for millennia. At the center of Limbo's Crossing is a cave, the true entrance to Limbo, the area around the cave being surrounded by large gray boulders and shattered stones not found anywhere else in the world. Beyond these basic facts, all else known about the region is vague and mostly stems from rumors and brief descriptions from the Pantheon, with all the problems associated with such.   Many gods have described the area as being untouched by glaciers and full of deciduous trees, which presents issues, as nearly all of the Land of Gods lies north of the ice sheets. Few areas that are not frozen and would support temperate plant life exist that far north, and none have been found matching descriptions of Limbo's Crossing via satellite. Many of the gods' descriptions are also inconsistent with one another- some claim that Limbo's Crossing does not experience weather at all, some that it does not see the seasons but does indeed have weather, and others claiming even (and impossibly) there is no daylight in Limbo's Crossing.

Fauna & Flora

Death's Bloom is common around Limbo's Crossing and grows in thick patches along the cliffs and in pathways to the mouth of the cave. All other life it seems is absent, especially as one draws closer to the cave. The bodies of unfortunate animals and people who have gotten too close litter the area.

Natural Resources

Death's Bloom is exceedingly common at Limbo's Crossing, growing on almost any available surface. Harvesting it, outside of members of Shia's Cult, is illegal.   The area is also home to a type of flat, grey stone not found anywhere else in the world. It has no known uses, and has not been able to be studied, as anyone carrying it outside of Limbo's Crossing is killed.
