The Omnia's Revolt

The Conflict

Prelude

Up until the revolt, the dragons had decimated the world and established themselves as the highest form of power. The Lunar Dragonflight and Solar Dragonflights in particular not only quashed humankind and the Omnia into slaves and servants, but did so to even other dragons, forcing them to act as they saw fit, or face destruction. Prisoners from past conflicts were used as soldiers to war with their enemies, as completely expendable in their view.   The ice age that gripped the world was the beginning of an opportunity to put an end to the draconic rule. All were struggling to survive with the climate freefall that gripped the world, with food in particular becoming an ever increasingly rare resource. Although finding plentiful food was rare, the omnia had a much easier time than dragons thanks to their natural advantages for survival- they could eat much more diverse things, and needed food in much lower quantities than the dragons. Many had also learned how to stockpile food without the notice of the dragons.   Humans also began to prepare, noticing that many dragons had become weak from starvation and they had also been recently emboldened by the newly risen Minor Gods, who gave out great boons of power to those that backed them, and had also shared conflicts with the dragons. These gods often clashed with them and their great strength and relative benevolence to mortals began to lead into a feedback loop- The gods who were powerful enough to kill dragons had their reputations spread, and these reputations fed power directly into the gods, making them even more devastating in battle.

Deployment

Having been fed up with the cruelty of dragons for thousands of years, and seeing the opportunity as they turned on one another from starvation, Omnia revolted en mass. Under the cover of night the omnia began to attack and kill dragons with improvised weapons, mostly targeting ones that were already weak such as young dragons, their eggs and nests, and those injured from battles among themselves.   Humans and gods also joined the conflicts, capitalizing on the opportunity, though not directly lending their aid to the omnia and in many cases, attacked them as well, thinking they were on the side of the dragons.

Outcome

Several thousand Omnia were released from the control of dragons and fled their territories, creating a mass exodus.   Thousands of dragons were killed in the conflict, mostly young and weaker dragons, with some flights losing entire generations of their young. Dragons who were born in this period rarely survived.   Due to the confusion on who the enemy was, gods and humans were frequent casualties in the crossfire, leaving few survivors.

Aftermath

The strongest Omnia, still under the effects of magic making them highly aggressive to their own kind, set the norm of Omnia attacking one another for territory. A large power vacuum was left from the retreat and death of so many dragons, leaving many areas under constant conflict over who was in control.   As several flights lost their leaders, they were left vulnerable to attack by the remaining dragons, and many were destroyed entirely or taken into the fold of larger flights. The Blood Dragonflight was born from the conflict, as many dragons abandoned their flights entirely or sided with mortals in surrender.
