Vera Redfaern

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Vera is a taller than average middle aged vampire.

Apparel & Accessories

Generally, Vera dresses rather plain and formally, almost always in public with some form of business attire appropriate for court given the nature of her job and often taking on cases on a moment's notice. She favors skirts and a-line dresses, generally with a suit jacket or blouse. Vera also has numerous ear piercings.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Vera is a direct follower and subordinate to Mą’ii, The Coyote God, acting as a pro-bono defense lawyer. Due to this, she often moves from place to place following different legal cases she is sent to by Ma'ii themself, helping different clients on high profile and charity cases alike.   She has connections to the Pack of Ferventi as well, having taken on one member, Ryoten, as a client in a case in which he was nearly falsely blamed for the deaths of a couple and wrongly accused of trafficking their son, Orion. The reality of the case was in fact that Ryoten had found the child near death off of a hiking trail and was attempting to get the child medical assistance. Later on. Vera also helped with Ryoten's case in fostering and adopting Orion in order to keep the boy out of the foster system after his dealings with the local government left a poor taste for both for his future.

History

Vera was sent by Mą’ii, The Coyote God to act as Ryoten's defense lawyer after his arrest following his rescue of Orion. Ryoten was accused of child trafficking and abuse of the boy quickly and on little evidence, with local law enforcement refusing to look at evidence of an outbreak of Dreamer's Disease in the region being the cause of the child's illness and death of his parents, instead accusing Ryoten of being responsible when he found Orion and brought him to town to get him medical treatment. Vera's intervention was a favor on Ma'ii's part, due to their good relationship with Ferventi, God of Wolves, Ryoten's father.   Vera got the case dropped and also assisted in the process of Ryoten making a case to adopt Orion himself to keep him out of the foster system. Since then, the two infrequently keep in touch and Ryoten occasionally sends updates to Vera on Orion. She also has several pieces of merchandise from his vlog series, The Montana Memo, that he gave her as a thank you gift.

History

Another client of Vera's on behalf of Ma'ii, Chiiri was charged by the city of Nottingham following an electrical fire that destroyed his residence. Chiiri's charges included purposeful neglect to repair, ignoring building codes, public endangerment due to the building's collapse, one count of arson, damages to other residents and personal injury to those living nearby his building. Charges related to the case included fines to cover the city's resources used to put out the fire and clean up the rubble of the collapsed apartment building. All charges against Chiiri were dropped thanks to Vera's intervention, as Chiiri was not the building's owner and she cited the fact he had merely been a resident of the building himself and responsibility lied in the owner who had abandoned the property and left it's care to him. As Chiiri was not an architect, building manager, or electrical engineer, Vera argued that he would have no way of knowing there was an electrical issue with the property and should not have been held responsible despite his efforts to maintain the building as best he could.   Chiiri's disability, being a double amputee and relying on prosthetics in his day to day life was a large point in the case for making the point of the owner's neglect and willful ignorance   The case was dropped and a new legal case opened instead resolved with the building's owner paying damages to the city, residents, and Chiiri himself to cover lost personal items, injuries, and replacing the equipment he lost to maintain his prothetics. The monetary payout given to Chiiri, as part of the damages suit, was later used by him to fund building himself his own home on Rainbow Row.
