Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Chiiri is slim and fit, with a runner's body. He often dresses in bright colors and makes unique fashion choices, such as fully displaying his prosthetics and having tattoos running from his eyes down to the base of his arms.

Identifying Characteristics

Chiiri has multiple identifying features, most notably, the Shia's Mark / Mark of Mora on either side of his head, just above his ears, resulting in white patches in his hair. If one were to remove his hair at these marks, it could be seen that the mark is also in his skin as well.
The other most notable feature is that Chiiri Hanley is a double amputee, missing both of his arms, roughly at the halfway point in his humerus. There is extensive scarring around the area, usually covered up by his prosthetics or sleeves. His prosthetics are custom made, perfectly suiting his style and with many variations on design, with no attempt to hide his disability and rather, use it as a point of fashion.
He also has tattoos of circuits running from the corners of his eyes down the sides of his neck, spreading onto his arms. These tattoos were done by himself, using a special photosensitive ink in a bright coppery orange that helps to give minimal power to his prosthetics.

Physical quirks

Chiiri is ambidextrous, having long since learned to use both of his hands in case one of his prosthetics is not working properly or needs maintenance. He also is regarded by many to be quite 'touchy feely' of a person, often maintaining physical contact with someone he is talking to, often touching their arm or shoulder, frequently holding people's hands or putting an arm over their shoulder while walking with them, and not at all shy about sitting in other people's laps.

Preferring to stand out, and valuing style over comfort, Chiiri wears typically modern clothing in flashy bright colors, with bold patterns and high contrast. He cares little for harsh weather, hot or cold, and will typically still be wearing his jacket well into the summer, and still be wearing tank tops until it's almost spring again. His fashion sense is all his own, and often he will choose his prosthetic to match an outfit. If he can't find one that does, he will sometimes create a whole new shell for it that does to compliment a new shirt, coat, or fad.

Personal history

Chiiri Hanley was born in Chicago during The War of Black Ash- a horrific period of violence, war, revolution, and the entire world set into full climate free fall. Omnia and dragons were in the midst of a revolution, with omnia killing dragons for their crimes against not only their own race but humans as well, humans had long since grown distrust to the omnia, and starvation was incredibly common as dozens of species went extinct, unable to cope with the changes and frequent volcanic eruptions.
As a child, his mother, Maria, once took him to a gas station that still had power and as she gained the trust of the clerk, they were let in to their town. He spent a decent portion of his childhood here, surrounded by humans, and learned to love and value them. Due to the quite literal post apocalyptic time, he like many other children in the town were given roles and jobs, and his natural skill for understanding electronics earned him work alongside a human electrician who powered the town using solar panels.
This brief period of peace did not last long, as when he was around 12, the town came under fire from dragons and he, his mother, and the clerk fled. Unfortunately, the clerk did not survive and he and Maria had a brief burial for the man- To this day Chiiri is not sure, but believes that his mother may have had a relationship with him. The next several years they traveled south during the winter, and back north again in attempts to find areas not yet claimed that still had food and supplies until Chiiri was 19.
As an adult, the territorial behavior dragons had forced into the omnia began to set in and drive a divide between him and his mother, her involuntarily seeing him as a threat to her territory and a challenger for food and water, and Chiiri beginning to fear her himself. By keeping their distance from one another they were both able to avoid much confrontation until Maria was unable to stop the urge to either drive him out of her territory, or worse, kill him. Taking the merciful route for her son, Maria chased Chiiri as far as she was able to ensure he wouldn't come back and instinct wouldn't force her to attack, maim, or even kill her son. He quickly met up with a small band of humans living in a van, and stayed with them until eventually they all passed away, due to age, illness, and food shortages. Chiiri at one point spent several decades living in his true form in an attempt to not have to go through the pain of losing anyone he cared about, and by the time he returned from living as a serpent, humans had already gone extinct, and society was beginning to rebuild itself as the Age of Dragons came to a close, and Age of Gods began.
He spent several centuries learning all he was interested in and developing his passion for art and helping others, and began a relationship with a girl at a deli. Chiiri and his girlfriend became extremely close and moved in together. A few years into their relationship, Chiiri learned that she had been diagnosed with cancer and unfortunately, would not be able to survive. Throughout the rest of their relationship he tried to mask the pain of knowing he would have to live without her and when she did pass away, attempted to get Shia, the God of Death, to revive her. He begged and pleaded with Shia, despite the god refusing multiple times, even offering his own life to which Shia agreed, knowing shi could manipulate the situation and take his life not physically, but situationally. Shia gave him the deal that upon revival, his girlfriend would know everything about him and blinded by his grief and selfishness, Chiiri agreed. Upon revival, his girlfriend was disgusted by the lies and selfishness he displayed, only thinking of his own loneliness and not that he had trapped her in the state just before she died, and cast him off. Shia struck him in the head to seal the deal with shi's mark, calling on him every year for a mundane task to keep him bound.
In the modern era, Chiiri lives now in Nottingham, New York. He was incredibly close with Nitali, a fellow omnia, and his best friend and partner in many graffiti collaborations. Nitali was killed by another omnia and Chiiri badly wounded, losing one arm in the fight and another later to infection, but thankfully rescued by Talv Milner, who later on helped him craft his first pair of prosthetics. He also met Sekhm and Lorenzo McConnell, becoming fast friends with them both and after his building burned in an electrical fire, began dating the pair after he moved in with them in a healthy relationship between the three of them.

Chiiri lacks most forms of formal education, having grown up in the post apocalyptic hellscape that was the War of Black Ash time period. As the first several hundred years of his life were focused exclusively on survival, all education he has had were either informal, through others, or taken much later on in his life, such as online classes or DIY courses.
His medical training, which mostly focuses on 'cowboy' measures to keep a person from dying until they can get treatment, mostly stem from this and that during the apocalypse, anything goes to not die. His mother, Maria Hanley was an experienced trauma nurse in Chicago, dealing with many grievous injuries such as car accidents and shootings, and taught him everything she could before they separated. Although he has extensive medical training because of her, Chiiri is in no way certified for it and most likely should not be allowed to treat mortals, as they are much more delicate than omnia.

Employment

Self-employed Graffiti Artist and Solar Panel installer- Chiiri is self employed as both a graffiti artist and solar panel technician, doing both businesses in tandem. As a graffiti artist, his works often feature a character of his own creation, 'Rivets', a cartoon robot in various forms that also functions as his graffiti artist persona. His works as a solar panel tech also often feature his graffiti, however Rivets is notably missing, as his solar panel installations are generally paid for either by individuals or companies, but other works are generally illegally done. Chiiri also often includes solar panels and charging stations in his works as Rivets.
Snitch- Chiiri also has close ties with the Nottingham Police Department (NPD), with their chief of police being aware of that he is an omnia, and a close friendship with Caden Rigby. Chiiri has been granted special permissions that allow him to get away with minor offenses, such as the graffiti and his numerous traffic violations, in exchange that he act as a snitch for more major crime. This has had its ups and downs for both parties, as Chiiri refuses to assist in reporting petty, minor crimes that harm no one, and often floods the system when he becomes annoyed by the police with extremely minor reports that incriminate no one, such as full trash cans in the parks causing littering or when officers park illegally. He does, however, help to keep the Underground in balance, reporting any missing omnia and when fights break out between them.
Servant of Shia- Perhaps the least formal of all, per his deal with Shia, Chiiri is bound to the god of death and must carry out any order shi gives him. Most often, Shia completely forgets that this occurred until the end of the year when shi must make all those bound to shi do something in the god's name, or else lose that grip on them. Generally it is small tasks such as overseeing a burial or delivering Death Masks in the place of a priest, or simply listening to the god vent.

Failures & Embarrassments

The deal with Shia: Some time in the past, his at the time girlfriend had unexpectedly died, and he attempted to have the Death God revive her. Upon doing so, and unfortunately for Chiiri, Shia revealed the truth of what he was to her. Angry and confused that he'd been lying to her for their entire relationship, and Chiiri's selfishness to only think of himself and not her own wishes, she rejected Shia's offer to be revived as a Shia's Dead and left him now bound to the death god.

Mental Trauma

He has a strong case of hemophobia, a fear and repulsion of blood. Upon seeing it, he gets incredibly nauseous and is prone to vomiting and passing out. Chiiri's hemophobia was also worsened by an attack on him from another omnia- the incident that led to the complete loss of one arm and severe infection leading to amputation of the other. He has trauma from this event, finding difficulty sleeping, phantom pains, and an unwillingness to seek medical attention no matter how severe his condition is. Chiiri is well aware of the fact he is affected by PTSD from this event, but continues in refusing to seek any manner of treatment, stating he's 'not depressed, so it's fine', despite that he has frequent nightmares about the event and difficulty sleeping.
Chiiri also has issues dealing with his past regarding his mother- a complete refusal to talk about her or his relationship with her stemming from when he was chased out of her territory. Often when pressured about the topic, he will become incredibly stressed, and drink well into the night. Often he also associates doctors and nurses with his mother, further advancing his refusal to seek treatment when injured.

Intellectual Characteristics

He is extremely gifted and well versed in working with electronics and mechanics, having built his own prosthetics and works by making custom solar panels and installing them. Chiiri is entirely self-taught, much of his knowledge coming from the internet and personal experience. Due to his mother, Maria Hanley, having been a trauma nurse, he also has above average medical knowledge, aiding in working on his prosthetics.

Morality & Philosophy

Chiiri is a strong pacifist, avoiding conflicts as much as possible. He will not start fights with other omnia and when they do break out is most likely to flee the area and try to escape- only fighting back when absolutely necessary. He also holds little regard for the unspoken rule to not involve mortals in the affairs of omnia, and will call for help and make a scene when he is being attacked or threatened to draw attention and end a conflict quickly.

Chiiri has a complete and total aversion to violence, and only resorts to it when he is forced to. He would rather be beaten near death than attempt to defend himself in any manner, but when he is forced to, will try to end a conflict quickly, usually using his pistol.

Above all, Chiiri seeks to have a good time. He's fun loving and quite extroverted, always seeking new ideas and to create. He enjoys helping others any way he can, even if it means going against the norm and frequently breaks the law to do so, illegally installing solar panels or jamming traffic cameras, parking meters, etc. Chiiri strongly believes in the freedom of others and leniency to those who do no true harm to others or the world around them, and displays such mentality by frequently breaking often trivial laws, such as tagging abandoned buildings to bring art and color to an otherwise decrepit area.

Obvious from the moment you meet him, his favorite color is orange. Chiiri loves driving fast and recklessly, and views his motorcycle as his most prized possession.

Due to his magic immunity, he is completely unable to use magic himself. Chiiri is unaware of his immunity to magic.
Chiiri can be quite proud, and incredibly stubborn in his ways. He prefers to do things by himself, only asking for help when he deems it the only option. As an innovator, he also views that he can always find a solution on his own, resulting in that him reaching out is quite rare, even when it's obvious he needs a hand.
He's rather self conscious of his weight, being much lighter than the average person of his build and height due to being an amputee.
Chiiri can be incredibly defensive when questioned on his weight and disability, viewing it as 'not a big deal' and made incredibly uncomfortable by those that try to help him or offer assistance, even when he does need it.

Chiiri has good personal hygiene, but his living spaces are often cluttered with an abundance of his belongings or things he plans to use or recycle later and promptly forgot about. This isn't to mean that he is dirty, however, simply incredibly disorganized.

Chiiri has not had connection to his family for centuries, having last seen his mother, Maria Hanley, when she chased him out of her territory when he was 19. He hasn't had contact with her since, and truly doesn't even know if she's still alive.

Prior to this, however, Chiiri's patron god was Mą’ii, The Coyote God, and he still considers them his patron in every way but name.

Chiiri and Lorenzo have been friends for many years and met through Sekhm, Lorenzo's husband. Lorenzo quickly took a liking to the younger omnia and his charms, with the two becoming fast friends through shared hobbies and interests. At some point in their friendship, Lorenzo developed a crush on Chiiri, however he mainly set it aside as he was aware that Sekhm, his husband, was also infatuated with him but
This changed drastically after Chiiri's building burned down due to an electrical problem. Both he and Sekhm backed off in flirting with Chiiri completely and offered for him to move in with them until he found a new place of his own. It was meant to be a temporary measure, however neither Lorenzo or Sekhm had any intention of kicking the younger omnia out before he was ready.
To his surprise, after years of being ignorant to or ignoring Lorenzo's previous advances, Chiiri questioned him on why he had suddenly become cold to him. Surprised by the situation, Lorenzo laughed and explained that he and Sekhm had been flirting with him for years and they weren't being cold, but had stopped out of respect for the rough period he was having in his life. Shortly after, Chiiri began dating both Lorenzo and Sekhm.

Lorenzo explained the situation to him, and shortly after, began a relationship with him and Sekhm both.

Chiiri is well aware of Sekhm's time as a mercenary, and that Sekhm has killed other omnia many times before.

History

Talv took over Nitali's territory, a large section of New York State, upon his death. Finding that another omnia was on a rampage, attempting to take it over for themself and kill anyone standing in their way, she stepped in at the nick of time and saved Chiiri's life, putting the other omnia down. Gravely wounded, Talv took Chiiri to her home, just outside the territory, and helped him to recover.

Relationship Reasoning

Talv is bonded to Chiiri- a magic enforced by the Omnia Council to force omnia who may be a good pair together to stop from being aggressive to one another. As such, Talv quite literally cannot bring herself to harm him in any way, and has a strong inert need to protect him.
As one of the few people to know where Talv actually resides, and why, Chiiri and Talv have a relationship of mutual respect and trust, but also the distance to not cross boundaries.

History

Upon the death of his girlfriend, Chiiri sought to have her revived by the Death God. Shia at first refused, knowing that he was an omnia, and had not revealed this to her during her life and the numerous secrets he withheld could easily put a regretable end to their relationship. Just the same, Chiiri insisted, even going so far as to threaten the god.
Angered and insulted by this, Shia proposed that shi would revive her for him, on the condition that if shi did, his girlfriend would come back with all the knowledge on what Chiiri was and his immortality, and that there would be a great personal cost. Without thinking, Chiiri agreed to the terms, desperate and heartbroken by her death and only thinking of his own need to see his girlfriend again.
She was revived, and instantly angered by his selfishness and lack of thinking on her own wishes. She tore into Chiiri, lecturing him on his selfishness and how much he had hidden from him, and begged that she be returned to the afterlife. Shia was unable to grant this as she had already been revived, and in the process of this, Chiiri had denied her a proper burial to do so. Stuck as one of Shia's Dead, she holds a great resentment to him. As payment for having her revived, the death god struck Chiiri with shi's scythe in the head, giving him the Shia's Mark / Mark of Mora and forever binding him to the god.

Relationship Reasoning

Having the mark, Chiiri is bound to Shia and at will, shi can force him into service as punishment. This most often is mundane jobs such as overseeing the death rites of others, delivering death masks, or collecting the essences of those who have passed on. While done as a punishment and to simply get tasks done Shia is often too busy to bother doing shiself, Shia mainly intended for the omnia to learn some humility and shed himself of the selfishness that put himself in the situation in the first place.

History

Rigby was first introduced to Chiiri by the young man actually having been arrested for tagging Rigby's police cruiser. Rigby was forced to let Chiiri go, however, as his captain told him that the young man was a snitch for the department and not to dig deep into it, to treat him as 'any other punk teen'.
Rigby took this... rather literally, thinking that Chiiri was nothing more than a bored teenager, and legitimately thought that Chiiri couldn't have been older then 19, for roughly 10 years. Whether he was willfully ignorant to Chiiri not aging as he should have, or simply unaware in unknown, although Chiiri believes that Rigby didn't question it due to him having Shia's Mark / Mark of Mora.
Eventually, Chiiri came forward and confronted Rigby on this, and realized the man had no idea that omnia even existed. He introduced him to Lorenzo and Sekhm shortly after, explaining their history. This caused Rigby to retire from the police force, as he realized he cannot enforce the law when it so unfairly affects the omnia, or does not apply to them at all in many cases.
When Chiiri's building burned down, Rigby reached out to him and let him stay with his family for a few days to ensure he was safe, before Chiiri moved in with Lorenzo and Sekhm.

Relationship Reasoning

They have a bit of a friendly rivalry, with Rigby trying to pressure Chiiri to better himself and stop doing graffiti, and Chiiri resisting and personally being a pest to Rigby by tagging his car, pulling practical jokes, and texting him when and where he will be tagging.
Despite this, Rigby cares deeply for Chiiri, having spent so long thinking of him as a misguided youth.

History

Setsuko and Chiiri had a long lasting romantic relationship up until her death, caused by cancer. Devastated by her death, Chiiri attempted to bargain for her life with Shia, the God of Death. His selfishness and lack of giving her a burial not considering if she wanted to be revived caused Shia to become irritated with the omnia, repeatedly denying his request. Chiiri's refusal to set things right and foolishly offering his life for hers caused Shia to grant the request, binding his life to shi's.
Rather predictably, Setsuko was infuriated by Chiiri denying her an afterlife and hiding that he was immortal from her. She broke up with him as a result and unable to return to death, moved away from Nottingham, leaving him in possession of their apartment and devastated, now permanently bound to the God of Death.

Relationship Reasoning

Setsuko and Chiiri shared a great love of the arts and music, having met at a local club. They dated for years before eventually moving in together.
Due to Chiiri's selfish actions, she now despises him thoroughly, refusing and rightfully so to ever see him again or make any attempt at patching things up.

History

Another client of Vera's on behalf of Ma'ii, Chiiri was charged by the city of Nottingham following an electrical fire that destroyed his residence. Chiiri's charges included purposeful neglect to repair, ignoring building codes, public endangerment due to the building's collapse, one count of arson, damages to other residents and personal injury to those living nearby his building. Charges related to the case included fines to cover the city's resources used to put out the fire and clean up the rubble of the collapsed apartment building. All charges against Chiiri were dropped thanks to Vera's intervention, as Chiiri was not the building's owner and she cited the fact he had merely been a resident of the building himself and responsibility lied in the owner who had abandoned the property and left it's care to him. As Chiiri was not an architect, building manager, or electrical engineer, Vera argued that he would have no way of knowing there was an electrical issue with the property and should not have been held responsible despite his efforts to maintain the building as best he could.
Chiiri's disability, being a double amputee and relying on prosthetics in his day to day life was a large point in the case for making the point of the owner's neglect and willful ignorance
The case was dropped and a new legal case opened instead resolved with the building's owner paying damages to the city, residents, and Chiiri himself to cover lost personal items, injuries, and replacing the equipment he lost to maintain his prothetics. The monetary payout given to Chiiri, as part of the damages suit, was later used by him to fund building himself his own home on Rainbow Row.
