Angrboða

Angrboða (a.k.a. The Mother of Monsters, The Spider God, The Spider Mother)

Angrboða, the Mother of Monsters, is a figure in legend whose name is spoken only occasionally by the Skalds. 
Not out of fear, but out of simple ignorance.  Virtually nothing is known of her, save that she was the Mother of three children by Loki .  Those three being Jormungandr, Fenrir, and Hel .  She appears in some of the tales as a Giantess, in others as a shape-shifter of undetermined providence, but even that much is spare.
The Truth, of course, is far worse.
Uncovered by the actions of the Firestarters, the scholars and poets of The Veld have learned that Angrboða was in fact a Goddess, or Demon, or something in between.  A powerful Spider entity which governed over groups of Elves and Monsters during the ages of the Giant Kingdoms in the distant past.
Those Giants, as well as rival groups of Elves, and her lover Loki, allied to defeat her forces and imprison her.  She could not be killed, for her Wyrd was too connected to the end times and even the Giants would not risk what undoing such a Destiny might do.  Instead they imprisoned her, using magics concocted between them, creating eight beacon stones.
Each of these stones was tied to one of the Realms through a resonance from that place, and great sacrifices of blood and magic were made to bind her to these stones, placed in places where the barriers between the worlds was weak.  Sanctuaries, temples and fortresses were built near these places, to protect them for all time.
But the Great Giant Kingdoms fell, and the age of Men began, and these places were forgotten.
Cracks appeared and first one, then another of her prison stones were broken.  For it was seen that while these stones kept her from exerting her full power, they also provided places where she could touch the world as her prison weakened.  Her servants started to work on the world to herald her coming.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The Spider of all sorts is a Symbol of Angrboða's cult.  Also a collection of eight dark coloured stones.

Tenets of Faith

Those who worship Angrboða tend to do so either out of a apocalyptic fervour, or a desire for great transformation which they believe only she can provide. 
Central to her cults then is a belief in her trasnformative nature and the possibility of better things wrought through destruction.  Also the fragileness of mortality and the chaotic nature of the universe. 
All believe she shall be freed and with her Children help to usher in the end of the reign of the Gods.
