The Veld

The Veld is an area that is nebulously defined even by those who live there. Most would agree it is the area inhabited by the Veldfolk  who are those who speak Veld  and yet it's borders have expanded and contracted over time and not always with the flow of the people who are it's namesake.
In general it is the agreed upon 'north' of the world, including the Northern Peninsula and the Southern Peninsula, which are confusingly referred to the other way around by those of the Southern Kingdoms. While it's northern borders are clearly the lands of Ice past which no human could hope to survive, the Veld's southern borders are more nebulous.

Geography

The Veld's Southern border is unclear, with some contention of where, or if, there is a proper end, though most would agree that by the time the Spire Mountains break apart into a larger mountain chain, you have left the Veld.
The Veld consists of two main landmasses and several islands. The Southern Landmass adjoins to a larger continent on which sits the Southern Kingdoms, and farther afield other lands. It is bisected by the Spire Mountains and is covered in forests, hilly expanses, pastures, and cultivated farmland in low lying area's. The Northern Landmass is vastly rockier; it is bisected by the Dvargrfell Mountains, its western coast a vast maze of fjords and inlets. Its east coast boasts more gentle terrain and deep Arboreal forests. Further to the north Ice and mountains become impassable and what, if anything lays beyond is unknown.
There are a number of Islands situated between these two landmasses. Dragon Island is the largest, home to its namesake, others are scattered here and there between the two landmasses.
