House di Maggio

Famous from an incident in 1760 when a doge from this house was murdered in the senate. House di Maggio holds extensive lands in the north of Apex. They have a palace in Drydale, and currently have a seat on the council of ten, held by Giovani di Maggio. The House has been in slow decline ever since its glory days in the late 18th century. The House has been around since the beginning of the republic, and has been involved in politics since the beginning.

Public Agenda

House di Maggio has struggled to maintain its position as a Great House in recent decades. Its landholdings are not as profitable as they once were, and they have had trouble adapting to new markets and new developments in trade. They seek to maintain their current position. They also seek to ensure that House di Donato never again becomes a serious political contender. They have for the past 240 years worked tirelessly to keep di Donato down. They are the main barrier to that house's re-entry into Apex politics.

History

The House was Founded some time in the 12th century. In the 14th century they got involved in a feud with House di Donato which is still ongoing. They reached the peak of their power in the 18th century when they were the called the "Grand Old House" and held the title of Doge for 20 consecutive years. Their power begun to decline at the end of the 18th century, first to competition from House di Vallentinia , then they were eclipsed by House di Floranna . In recent years they have struggled to remain relevant in Apex politics.
