2023/11/15: Continued Adventures in Space Part 12 Report

General Summary

Buzz, Aetheril, Johann, Kal'vus, Union, Sith   With all other elementals handled, the party began considering options for how to capture the air elemental. The elemental had dispersed itself thinly enough around the outside of the ship to avoid the soul-rending effect of the region. Suggestions for catching it included using the HVAC system or having the monk "chase the wind". Vortessa said she was capable of catching any weapon, so if the party somehow made the air elemental into a weapon, she could potentially catch it.   The party decided to try to have Kal'vus chase down and collect enough of the elemental to be targeted, then have Ril connect to it with elemental bond. Buzz gave Kal'vus a rebreather, Ril set up a way to make Kal'vus's wind blade strike more as a net, and they prepared to send him outside the ship. Vortessa was there to catch some wind and improve the catching, Chatopé got to work on the ritual circle, Johann served as an assistant and took notes, Malakai continued working on the engine, and Buzz, Akia, Zeltheon, and Union stood guard.   Just before Kal'vus set out, Buzz remembered that he had a bunch of giant, high-powered rotating fans in his portable hole. He'd been planning to use them for improving agriculture in his homeland. He pulled one out to use as a focus to bind the elemental. Chatopé contributed some sovereign glue to bind the fan to the floor in the ritual circle.   About 30 seconds into the attempt to catch the elemental, the guards noticed blue lightning ooze starting to slip out of the turbolift. Buzz summoned a swarm of monkeys to try to distract it and guide it back up to another floor. They succeeded, but the party did note that the ooze was some 50 feet long as it passed by on its way to another floor, frying monkeys all the way.   After several minutes of work, the attempts to collect the elemental bore fruit. Chatopé's binding ritual succeeded. With that, all of the elementals had been acquired, and it was time to do the final ritual.   To stabilize things before the ritual, Ril attempted to piggyback a ritual to hold the ship together. The screams from hundreds of throats all over the ship were a sign of her success. The party watched three crewmembers appear as burned skeletons, then reverse in time and regain their flesh as they were pulled back to taking cover behind a desk. They, and presumably the rest of the crew, are once again alive. Kal'vus managed to catch them and some newly revived adventurers before they could be sucked or blown out of holes in the hull, but others promptly died again to environmental hazards. Kal'vus called Johann over to help him identify and communicate with the rescuees.   Then the ship was struck with a powerful quake. Many of the folks in the group were tossed to the floor. This was followed by an ominous silence. Everyone was struck with the sense that something was deeply, supernaturally wrong. Malakai, a professional in this sort of thing, quietly picked up the engine, nodded to Union, and vanished. Another explosion went off, tossing large parts of the ship into the void and shaking she decks again. Ril scried to find the cause, and was informed that there was an enormous, multi-elemental elemental going full kaiju on the ship from the outside. It had six or seven elements involved, but was otherwise genuinely just an elemental.   The party considered just teleporting out, but there were people elsewhere on the ship who would be left behind. And besides, it was just an elemental. Beating it down was an option. Johann started relating the Chronicle of Boris Averham, Buzz passed out guns to the crew, Buff spells were cast, and the fight began.   The fight was chaotic and epic. Chatopé summoned an entire adventuring party of catgirls, Johann pointed out weaknesses, and an apocalyptic barrage of gunfire and weapon blows poured down on the monster. Ril had to use temporal shenanigans to re-alive some victims of the elemental's retaliatory strikes. Eventually, the elemental was worn down through four stages and shells, and it finally exploded.   The party checked on the rest of the crew and talked to the rescued adventurers. Apparently the adventurers were mostly from Aerial and would really rather not go to Renedge. They'd heard stories and suspected it would be much harder to leave Renedge than one would expect. Ril volunteered to take the six adventurers to Stoneheart. Buzz escorted the 24 Starfleet crew to the spelljammer.   The elementals were dropped off in the destinations they chose, which were the corresponding elemental planes. The water elemental declared that she owed Johann a favor. He had faithfully presented and kept to the deal he proposed, and she appreciated it.   With the adventure completed, the party began to head home. Buzz started to follow up on his agreement to build Kal'vus a training facility. Kal'vus, in turn, offered to train Johann further in martial arts, and Johann happily said he'd take him up on the offer. Chatopé asked if anyone would be interested in going technomancer hunting. Leithien contacted the party and said they had found information and allies and now had nine new targets on offer, only three of which were on this plane of existence. Ril went to take a nap.
