Kal'vus

A katana-wielding kenku sword-monk and ex-god.   He held a great desire for vengeance against Necrosa after she drained him and his friends like batteries, with some of them dying in the process. Now that she's finally been defeated once and for all, Kal'vus is finding his new path in life. For now, he has returned to his old love of teaching.

Tenets of Faith

Kal'vus operates based on a personal code or set of ideas, and he passes these on to his followers. He has no real care for morals beyond that code.   His code is as follows:
  1. "Battle and conflict have a purity. All are equal from noble to commoner, no one is above death."
  2. "The threat of one sword can keep another in its sheath."
  3. "Action, not promises. Honor of one's word, not money."
  4. "Might doesn't make right. As in battle, the correct choices at the correct time make a good leader and a good course."
  5. "Easy living makes a dull blade."
  6. "Weapons don't know a friend or foe, warriors decide this."
  7. "Strife makes a blade jagged, not smooth. Such is one's rule: Warriors make poor leaders of peace."
  8. "Harming the defenseless makes one a warrior as much as stepping on grass makes one a gardener."
  9. "Skill makes a warrior, not equipment or authority."
  10. "Most of all, it is not the quality of one's blade alone that determines victory. A forest of good blades can shatter a great one. And just as timing separates perfect tempering from a broken blade, so it separates death from victory as well."
  11. "Emotions are not a weakness, they are the warrior inside speaking out. To silence them is to silence one's self, to dull one's blade. To give in leads to strife. The warrior inside therefore is not friend or foe but a constant harsh mentor."

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

Due to divine punishment, kenku, despite being bird people, do not have wings. Kal'vus, on the other hand, does. His wings are fully functional and allow him effective flight and aerial maneuverability.   Thanks to some enchanted war paint, Kal'vus has a scary eye design permanently painted in red on the underside of each of his wings.

Apparel & Accessories

Kal'vus wears no armor, opting instead for a set of custom clothes that were made by his elven allies when he was saved. They have been stitched and patched and restitched over and over.   His weapon of choice is a unique katana, his "god item". His other possessions are stored in a big backpack filled with items in smaller bags.

Kal'vus usually displays a calm and sweet manner. In combat, however, he is anything but, save for what honor dictates.

    History

    Kal'vus and Eriad ran across each other at Castle Fallingstar in late 23 ARL. Kal'vus was looking for sparring partners, and Eriad took him up on it. Most of a day of fighting later, they were good friends.

    Both are avid swordsmen and are constantly searching for improvement.

    History

    Kal'vus first saw Nas fighting in an underground fight club, coming to respect the young warrior for his dogged determination. Divine intervention by Erethenar the Wise later led Kal'vus to Nas's apartment. Kal'vus quickly convinced Nas to let Kal'vus take him on as an apprentice, and the two also promised to aid each other in their personal revenge quests.

    Relationship Reasoning

    Kal'vus, ex-god of martial prowess, has taken Nas under his wing as an apprentice. Kal'vus may actually be paying Nas for the opportunity to teach him.
