Vaester
A somewhat creepy town in the Forgotten Realms that is located near a number of portals to the Shadowfell. The town has historically had problems with cults, especially those in service to Orcus, popping up in the area, and adventurers regularly come through to clear them out.
History
In mid-23 ARL, things near Vaester turned worrying. Some of the cultists being hunted by adventurers turned up mysteriously dead and mauled, a local warrior was killed fighting off demons (which are unusual for the area), and when the priests attempted to resurrect the warrior, it seemed some barrier was blocking his spirit from returning.
Points of interest
The town contains a temple to Pelor. The high priest, Beldan, is capable of resurrecting the dead (for a fee).
Geography
The terrain around Vaester is gloomy and relatively barren, with no other settlements in view for miles. Mountains begin to rise not too far away, containing a tomb to an arch-priestess of the Raven Queen named Sartine and at least one portal to the Shadowfell.
