2022/11/09: Halloween Special Part 3 Report
General Summary
Union, Ruby, Buzz, Eldrin, Altruenth, Moyshanna
The party went through the portal to the Shadowfell. After brief travel, the party encountered a death barrier around a tall fortress/keep, which proved to be Nightwyrm Fortress. Union was able to get through the death barrier because he was already dead, so he did some scouting. Inside the fortress were minotaurs, demons, and other monsters. He found a primordial lady resembling Galadriel's evil form, who was singing. (The song was incomprehensible even to Union, who understands Primordial, but it may have had a primordial madness effect?) She was apparently trapped in the tower. Union talked to her via controlled shadows that formed written words and pictures and got her to do distraction music to make the demons and such go away. Eldrin wrapped death around the party to get them through the shield. They talked to the Galadriel lady for a bit and then went to the top floor. There they fought a death-touched shadow dragon (which may have been linked to or working with Old Ones), which Ruby proceeded to beat into the floor.
The party took the dragon's corpse, the dragon's eggs, and a ring with the soul of Jothan Ironspell, the paladin who couldn't be rezzed. They also found some other loot.
Then they went back downstairs. The column of souls and/or death shield was dissipating. The party was confused, as this situation didn't seem all resolved, but Ruby's attempt to find the path to deal with her tattoo just led back outside. On their way out, the Galadriel lady seemed mostly gone, but hints of her presence remained; she may still be trapped.
The party went back out through the Tomb of Sartine, flew back to Vaester, and found out that the guy running the bell tower had been mind controlled/influenced by a primordial evil/entity and believed that what he was doing was in the best interest of Pelor. He was the one siphoning off the souls of the townspeople as they died. The party killed him, which was difficult due to Old One-related powers and interference. As he died, he sent out a psychic warning to all the townsfolk saying the heroes were trying to kill him. When he died, Ruby's tattoo also finally dissipated.
Buzz managed to get down into the temple and summon some representative of Pelor, who was able to tell the gathering townsfolk that it was okay and the adventurers weren't evil. The party handed the ring with the paladin's soul over to the high priest for resurrection. Then they all headed home to Renedge, with Moyshanna coming along. They proceeded to debate loot distribution in Altruenth's castle.

The archivist was absent for this session, so details are less concrete. Apparently the group found out that there's an Old One death angel named Urishvael who was responsible for corrupting the belltower man's mind, and he's still out there?
