Danwar den Ulykege

Danwar den Ulykege was the last rik of Fridhovsland. He is remembered as a weak, unlucky ruler. He taxed the people of Fridhovsland harshly and was widely viewed as a puppet ruler of his cousin Rik Harvad, ruler of the Thalkunir kingdom of Vesturhald to the east. He was stingy with gifts and rights towards his theotans, earning animosity from all but his family and sycophantic advisers. This animosity in turn drove him to paranoia and cruelty.

Thus when Jonag Issenhjart arrived with his Vandir horde from the central plains to conquer fertile Grunmark, he experienced half-hearted resistance from Fridhovsland's nobility. Danwar was killed personally by Jonag, who dragged him out of his chambers in the middle of the night and strangled him with the sleeve of his own nightshirt, strangulation being universally the most shameful of deaths to all Jolnir cultures.
