Desert Calmaxtec

Desert Calmaxtec is a language group that is distantly related to Southern Calmaxtec. Its only native speakers are the Inokal people of the Chilacaualco Desert. The ancestors of the Inokal fled into the desert millenia ago, escaping slavery under the southern Tecuhtli Empire. Desert Calmaxtec dialects are believed to be the closest to the languages spoken by the ancestors of the Calmaxtec. The fact that it is the most similar of the Calmaxtec languages to the Ranjari language strongly supports this theory.
