Kurtulmak and Garl Glittergold

Kurtulmak is the patron deity of the Kobolds, while Garl Glittergold is the patron deity of the Gnomes. Their ancient relationship is the sole reason behind the two races' eternal rivalry.   Kurtulmak is the last of the 6 "True Dragons." While all dragons around today descended from Nahgi, the Primordial Dragon, Kurtulmak is the reason that these dragons are capable of creating life. Namely, they can create kobolds by giving up a part of themselves. Kurtulmak is the weakest of the 6 True Dragons, but he's also the most cunning. He was subservient to Tiamat before he died in 23 AC. Today, followers of Kurtulmak can be identified by the crest of a gnome's skull, usually impaled by a weapon of some sort.   Garl Glittergold created the gnomes from precious gemstones and blessed them with his intelligence. As such, all gnomes take after his jolly personality. The Communion of Laughter is even held in his honor on the 13th day of each month. It consists of joke-telling contests, communal meals, dancing, prayers, storytelling, and donations of gold, which Garl's church use to the benefit of the entire community.   These two gods are the primary reason for their respective races' eternal hatred for one another. In the early days of creation, kobolds enslaved many gnomes in order to steal their children (and the precious gems they came from). In retaliation, Garl stole something from Tiamat's horde, knowing that Kurtulmak would be sent to retrieve it. Garl Glittergold lured Kurtulmak into a system of elaborate caves, which he (Garl) escaped from shortly after collapsing it entirely. Kurtulmak was killed in the collapse, and the kobolds haven't forgotten.
