Demacia
Interesting Things About Demacia
- Demacia has a complex history with magic. Magic in it's many forms is strictly regulated. The Laws of Stone dictate that any citizen or foreigner accepted inside the walls of Demacia, if a mage, is not allowed to use their magical abilities unless they are members of the Mageseekers. Foreign diplomats with magical abilities are escorted and closely watched by Mageseeker Adepts. They also work to hide an ever-growing mage population by removing magical individuals from public society and placing them under their care.
- Unique to Demacia are Petricite Trees, a fossilized-like tree that has magic-dampening abilities as well as the ability to absorb magic. Early innovators learned how to refine this into a useable resource for construction and manufacturing in the Demacians' defensive walls, military, and other public security. This material has allowed Demacia to maintain a formidable army despite a lack of mages.

- Views on Magic. There are many who are superstitious of magic practitioners who that have given rise to the Mageseekers, a government sanctioned group that locates and secures those that locate and secure those that exhibit magical abilities. On the other side of things, an increase the birth of those with magical abilities has given rise to those who want to change Demacia. Some through peace, and others by force. *Note: The teaching of magic is strictly forbidden in Demacia. The Mageseekers are composed solely those born with magic (i.e. sorcerors).*
- Law and Order. Crime in any form is harshly punished: there are no misdemeanors within Demacia. Some detractors of Demacia claim this as proof of its inherent hypocrisy. Demacians counter this argument by pointing out that their justice system incorporates benevolence and mitigation into its verdicts. No one is punished without fair and just consideration of the circumstances involved.
- Names and Surnames. Demacia has a varied system of distinguishing its individuals and familiar units. The Demacian nobility has surnames for their families. For a noble, the surname of their family holds great significance. The commoners, especially those of lower social standings, do not have surnames as distinguishing commoner familiar units holds no great significance in larger Demacian politics. Individuals are differentiated among others with the same name by referring to them by their names as well as their place of birth (i.e. Cithria of Cloudfield). While this is the most common way of differentiating individuals of non-noble birth, a commoner that gains notoriety in their field of work or by their deeds may also start to be referred to by an earned or given title (i.e. Cithria the Bold).
