Dokkalfheim
Home of the Dark Elves
The nation of the once nomadic race of Dark Elves. Because of how far they liked to travel in the past, their cities are very spread out from each other. Since Dark Elf culture is comprised of various customs borrowed from others, various elements from other cultures around the world can be found within the country. Each settlement is unique in that they are individually ruled by a different leader rather than collectively being under a single government.
In the past, the entire country was a very vibrant land, but after Arsinia unleashed a magical outburst near Ophica, the land has been split apart by a massive desert.
Structure
Although Dokkalfheim is still considered its own country, each city is under the governing eye of a different person or group. What the settlement's leader decides to call themselves is entirely up to them, from king/queen, mayor, lord etc. However, the citizens are allowed to vote the leader out of power should they feel as though they are doing a poor job. If they reject the vote of the people, they can take the leader out by force.
It is for this very reason that leaders that attempt to create a fascist government tend to be found impaled on spikes for the world to view as a rotting museum piece outside the city gates. Those who try to start a cult of personality tend to get kicked out after a few weeks as well, and are always ridiculed as the nation's biggest joke in the news. They are immortalized in Dark Elf history, just as they always wanted, but unfortunately for these sad, wannabe leaders, it's as the longest running gag any bard or comedian would make fun of.
Demography and Population
Dark Elves comprise over 94% of the population. The remaining 6% is made up of various other races, but humans and ophicans are the most common "foreigners".
