Giant Srád Lónrálous of Hhridhdur

General introduction

The giant Srád Lónrálous of Hhridhdur is a unique item that was found by the river Hhridhdur. It is a shard of Leindar, broken into three pieces and being painted with the titular design of a spider web. What is special about this piece, though, is not only its size of about three palms, but also, that there is not only a spiderweb painted on it, but also a substantial text written in the spaces between the threads.

It is normal for Srád Lónrálous to have single characters or seemingly random symbols noted in some of the spaces, but this one piece has extensive writing mixed in with some symbols. Scholars have been trying to make sense of it since it was found.

Purpose and content

Normal Srád Lónrálous are bought as little charms by individuals for their personal protection or well-being or to plead to the goddess reiridh for good harvests or crops. These are normally as small as birch leaves or grain heads. No other piece of this size has ever been found. Thus its purpose stays as mystery, as the connected cult of the Priestresses of Tán Nám is a mystery.

The text makes no sense and is suspected to be written in Srífilis, an encrypted form of communication used by the cult. While the grammar of the text makes perfect sense, the words used do not fit and sometimes it seems as if symbols used are partly replacing words, partly augmenting them. But nothing can be said for sure, since the object has made people riddle from the very beginning.

The cult never tried to let the object vanish, although it might be powerful enough to do so. It also never acknowledged its existence or referred to it in any way, shape or form. This makes the authenticity of this special Srád Lónrálous even more questionable. Maybe the cult also tries to not draw unnecessary attention to the object, since it always is in plain sight and letting it vanish would accomplish nothing, as it has been documented in numerous drawings over the years.

Interessant.
