The Dreadcaptain is said to be a bear of a man, whish dark skin and coallike eyes.  He has the look of being overly large, even obese, but those who have met him in battle have seen that there is nothing but muscle under his coat.

The details of the Dreadcaptain's past are wash with contradictions, embellishments, self promotion, and outright fabrications. Discarding the most outlandish of the tales, the Dreadcaptain is described as a self-made pirate who worked his way up from deckhand to admiral of a fleet of pirates that menaced an entire sea.  Some go as far to say that the threat of the man was so great that it pushed the Yvalian Empire into war to preserve its own shipping.  With the creation of the Free Cities Accord, the Dreadcaptian has become perhaps the single most powerful figure in the Sheer Coast.

The Dreadcaptain is said to have many children spread both far and wide and in a notorious lover of wine, food, and women. While some consider this more of the man's self-promotion, those closest to him, have done nothing to dispel his reputation.

Cheerful, gregarious, and boisterous, the Dreadcaptain is a confident and swarthy master of self-promotion. His personality is said to only rival his size. He notoriously has never lost  a competition brought on by his bragging, (even those where the outcome was questionable, it is said, he so affably twisted the rules as to make even is opponent a fast friend).
If the tactics of his fleets are an reflection of his personal thoughts: he is notorious for bating stronger into weakened positions, concealing a large portion of his strength, and having a dozen contingencies to every plan.
