City of Vallrus

Vallrus is a large city in the northeast region of Central Mainland. Its old settlement is at the mouth of Valla Roussa River river on the north coast of the mainland. It is located at the end of large plain lands near Nabla Mountain and the west slopes of North Spine Mountain. It was founded as a fisherman's village and developed similarly to Varglara. Villagers turned the natural harbour into a good port and built a boatyard. Unfortunately, unlike Varglara, Vallrus was unable to claim any strategic value. The delta of Valla Roussa appears to be too shallow for large overseas ships. The village's location was too far away from either Night Empire, or trade routes with The Archipelago. Thus, the village's growth was halted for a very long.
When The Last War finally finished and The Lockdup was unleashed, most of the shipyards and ports at West coast lost some influence and position as their main purpose was lost. The question of developing the town of Vallrus arose once more, but again shallowness of the delta was the biggest problem. Instead, certain port towns in the centre of the shoreline were chosen and were developed into international marketplaces and trading hubs. The town continued to support the Empire even when it started to descend. The local ruler was responding each time when each time the Emperor called for an army or raised taxes without any resistance or questioning. However, when the Empire finally fell apart, the town was bled out both financially and manpower. That made it easy prey for newly hatched warlords around and soon, the town was plundered several times by different raid parties. This continued until one practically smarter than others decided to build a country under his command. So, he captured Vallrus although some other near towns and declared creation of the autonomous kingdom of TODO. Vallrus, at last, got some investment in self-development and growth. However, when the kingdom was destroyed and fell, the town regained its freedom. The money was once more redirected from improvement to other things, like personal getting rich by corrupted rulers and building necessary-to-none projects.
The real rise of the Vallrus comes with the establish of the New Human Empire. The town was one of the first to adopt the idea of one centralized command and supreme ruler. The townsfolk offered all they can to help the proclamation of the new Empire. In return, the town's shipyard was chosen for the main supplier for the new Imperial Navy instead of Varglarian Shipyard. This gave Vallurus this long-awaited impulse towards rapid growth. The delta of Valla Roussa River was cleaned and deepened. The dry docks and production facilities of the shipyard were greatly expanded. Imperial Military Shipyard was established there. An entire new port was built with the capacity to accept large trans-oceanic ships from The Archipelago. The town became a big city with a vital role in the empire. Craftsmen and scientists from around the world came and settled here. Soon, an entirely new district full of workshops and laboratories appeared.
The importance of Vallrus grows even more when the first contact when the foreign race of Dwarves was made. The city was the first to offer dwarves a place to stay and work. The locals quickly accept newcomers and help them to establish themselves there.
Soon enought the Imperial shipyard was extended again, this time with a dwarven workshop and an experimental facility. The first human-made Steam Engine, based on dwarven Steam Engines, were in Vallrus, in Imperial Military Shipyard. Then, the steam-powered ships were being developed.
