Winged Horror
A wicked creation of Filth
Winged horrors are Beast Servant horrors. Members of the Order of Purity observed them for the first time circa 1018-1020 AL over the ruins of Capital city. The first specimens were small, mindless blobs with large, bat-like wings, no bigger than a pigeon or chicken. Later, larger ones with the size of a harpy eagle or condor flight the sky. Winged horrors differentiate from one another in shapes and proportions. They generally follow the body shape of a bird. They look artificially developed for transport outside of the besieged city. They are highly vulnerable to any kind of damage, including physical. It couldn't kill them but can bring them down and incapacitate them for a prolonged time.
Winged horrors are known to regrow their damaged or destroyed wings through time. However, regeneration is a slow process and may take even years. Usually, the Order organises quick-strike expeditions tasked to destroy shooted-down Winged horror. Very often, such hunting parties had to fight Horror groups sent to retrieve the injured ones. Winged horrors appear to be valued assets to their commanders as they aren't easy to breed, grow and train. The longer they live, the more intelligent they become. Some of the oldest are even smart and cunning. However, their nature is still horror-ish, and there is no evidence they become sentient or develop intelligence. However, there are some observed cases of collapsing the shape of the Winged horrors, and they become close to Primal horror.
The Order's Menagerie kept in captivity several Winged horrors. The order scientists performed many tests and experiments with them over the years. They were researching horrors' true origins and the methods of their creation. Some died there, while the survivors escaped during the War of the Schism. While some of the escaped Winged horrors met their end during the war, a few successfully fled to freedom.
Winged horrors are highly aggressive toward any living being, except other horrors and some species of demons. However, in captivity, they often attack each other, and infights sometimes end lethally.
Winged horrors feed on any living beings except other horrors (as long they can be classified as living) and also decaying carcases, including ones of other horrors but not of higher demons. The Order scientists discover some respect or even fear of all Winged horrors (and even from some other horrors) toward them. Winged horrors often generate an aura of anxiety and tension around themselves. They also have a dangerous bite that can cause decay, rot or corruption. Winged horrors grow life-long, but the growth tends to slow down as the creature ages.
The most well-known escapee is the semi-intelligent known as Aydherym. It fled in the southwest direction, and later discovery showed it settled in the ruins of Fortress East Watch
