Holy See of Galarba
The See of Galarba, inhabited half by golden elves and wood elves, has always been an independent elven principality called Ashenvale County, which was part of the Kingdom of Arborea, is a territory located in a strategic corner at a military and political level extremely relevantly.
Nestled between Arborea, in controlled equilibrium with the Duchy of Unduraz, on watchful guard with the Forest of Darkwood and in perennial more or less hot conflict with the Kingdom of Mazur due to the minority of wood elves who inhabit the border area.
In 1256 the heir of the Shire renounced the throne in favor of the The Lady of Tears, an immortal with amazing healing powers. You also changed the name of the territory to "See of Galarba" and declared independence from the kingdom of Arborea.
This change of government has led to problems of balance both internally and externally, internally not all have accepted the rise to power of the lady of tears, accusing her of having manipulated the heir to the throne for her purposes, subjugating her to his will to renounce the throne.
The change of the name of the nation, the abandonment of traditions, habits and religion, have instilled in part of the population intolerance and a feeling of rebellion.
The control of the territory by the Lady is entrusted to clerics and faithful zealots, who seek to stabilize the territory to transform it into a complete Theocracy. Despite this, clandestine or non-clandestine associations have been formed which aim to restore the county to its ancient beliefs and traditions.
On an external level, the new political situation has led to the breaking of the old alliance with Arborea and to conflicts between the two former allies. In some circles it is rumored that Arborea is thinking of a war to bring Galarba back to the bed of the Kingdom.
In the Grand Duchy of Orenil the rise of the lady of tears is viewed with concern, the avatar of Arva decreed that the proto-clerics of the Lady cannot proselytize in the Grand Duchy; border controls have been tightened and for the first time in millennia the Galarians are viewed with suspicion.
In this way Galarba, located between the Gulf of Romney and the Gulf of Wargham, would once again be the hub of the northern market also at the maritime and commercial level.
To the north, the always hostile kingdom of Mazur is training new troops to invade from the north, taking advantage of Galarba's supposed weakness, also driven by the desire to solve the Sindran rebel problem in their territory once and for all.
While in the east the sound of Darkwood's drums never stopped, like a veiled warning.
From the point of view of the new government, one of the strategic plans would be to take possession of the isthmus that connects it to the Kingdom of Mazur in order to dig a canal to put the two gulfs in direct contact.
The Lady of Tears completely devotes her time to the affairs of her church, The Tears and the Pain, developing the cult and proselytizing of her proto-priests, to reach the fulfillment of her "Destiny": to rise to divinity.
For this reason, the See of Galarba is run, instead of the Lady, by a proconsul called "Master/Mistress of Pain" a high priestess whose office is granted and removed by the Lady. To help the Mistress in the administration we find the "Rind" a council of ministers. The "Herdir" ministers are appointed for their abilities in the area in which they are called to hold their office and can be appointed or dismissed by the Mistress of Pain at any time.
The See of Galarba is divided into three provinces Holy Seat and Ashvale ruled by a Ranc Othrond (The Arm of the Lady) while the Northwall Province due to the border with the Kingdom of Mazur is ruled by a Ranc Militarui (The Military Arm of the Lady ) appointed by the Mistress of Pain.
Economically thriving for the many trades that interest it; in its major ports Lyelore and Galarba there are merchants from all over and many of the Galarians population is directly or indirectly involved in many commercial and artisanal activities.
Because of this, however, in the history of the See of Galarba there is always little interest of its inhabitants in a military career and the border troops are mostly mercenaries.
The fleet is led by the Ranc Gir (The Arm of the Sea of the Lady) and divided between the two military ports of Oflaran and Turaram; most of the sailors on the fleet are also mercenaries.
In more recent times, the influx of faithful of the Lady of Tears into the Galarba area and their fanaticism have caused innumerable problems of public order; the Rind has decided to try to contain this problem, placing these zealots in special military units, called "penitent militias".
