Republic of Touran

Four different races coexist in the republic of Touran, the Touranian Gnomes which take their name from this locality (Touranian), the First People / Rake Drakonic who were originally the inhabitants of the region, the Dail Humans from the north and the Southern Norren Goliath, also called Forest Giants.

The republic is led by a Senate, in which all races are equally represented; all Senators have equal importance, all decisions are taken by majority vote. In extreme cases, a Conducator is elected, who is assigned special powers and who remains in office until the end of the emergency to be resolved. The Conducator can be removed from the Senate at any time by a secret vote, equal to at least 70% of the voters.

Senators are elected by cities, two senators for each city of at least 10,000 inhabitants. In some cases, people who have accomplished particularly important feats and deeds are appointed Senators for life. At the moment there are 2 previous Conducators in the Senate who have successfully carried out their duties.

This type of government has led society to a neutral and pacifist attitude, allowing the coexistence of the various races in a harmonious way, on the other hand this lifestyle has instilled in the population a sense of isolationism. The presence of Grand Duchy of Elemon to the north and the Grand Duchy of Magmhorin immediately beyond the gulf, it places them as a kind of buffer state between two rival powers. It is no coincidence that many spy tales are set in the republic, the city of Gathiz is also known as "the city of spies".

Not all the inhabitants of the Republic, however, agreed with this type of conduct, especially when the southern part of the republic was invaded by Darkness. All those who felt threatened and disappointed by the slowness with which the Senate reacted to the threat, decided to take control of the threatened territory to militarily oppose the advance of the Darkness.

This secession led to the establishment of the nation of the Kurzelcut Federation where the gnomes are the predominant race and which, thanks to very important technological and military efforts, allowed not only to block the growth of the Darkness, but also the reconquest of some territories that were fallen under it.

The great gnomic creativity has led to the growth of the economic importance of the Touran Republic, with great impetus given to the development of the design and construction of windships and seagoing ships.

The ports of Chelcut and Springar are among the busiest ports in all of Valenor, the most important technological innovations appear first in these ports and then are exported elsewhere.

All these novelties almost completely escape the Norren of the Forests, whose ancestors' rituals and the maintenance of ancient traditions are the founding part of their culture. Unlike their northern brethren in the Norren Hordes, the Norren Touranians mainly hunt Giant Deer and Moose in the nearly impenetrable forest of the KlitKiv province, and the more enterprising sell the hides in the port cities.

Another fundamental difference with the Norren of the North is that the Touranians love to demonstrate their strength and endurance and for this reason they are highly sought after as Gladiators, sports that they practice successfully in arenas throughout the Republic and throughout Valenor.
