The Great Kingdom that lived in what today are the Desert Lands was submerged by the sands, thousands of lives were lost and an entire kingdom vanished, swallowed by the desert.

It's not commonly known but the Great Kingdom cataclism in a byproduct of the Failure of Traveling Magic in 124 NE.

Few people flee the destruction, they now are the Desert People Human.
