Umanian International Armistice

The international governing truce that acts as a bridge between the nation states of Uman and the Asmaran Federation as a whole. The grouping is largely symbolic - federation senate law requires that systems looking to hold seats must form a committee that holds power to act on behalf of all recognized independent states in the system. This is especially important in matters of senator-ship, such as election. The UIA was the compromise.
In modern matters, the UIA has the authority to hold senate and house seat elections, impeach seat holders, and manages the Umanian branch of the federal Home Navy. In practice, the UIA barely manage to handle the first of its responsibilities. Seat holders are under no threat of impeachment or even audit, and the Umanian Home Navy is so mired by infighting among the polities that it can barely act effectively or efficiently.
