He sent Hiega’s best
the most devout to fight.
Down from redwind
fiends came in the night.
The horrors advanced,
seemed they would not yield.
But with our champions
stood the Highshield.
Members of
Mahoryo are generally encouraged to keep their identities and abilities hidden, so that the team remains strong and difficult to counter. This was particularly difficult for the Golden Rise however, as
Osai Highshield was already well known prior to joining the team in S289. In S295 he became the
High Shield and now carries the well known and visibly striking
Manastorm on his person.
He became particularly well known as the Golden Rise in S305 when he led the forces of Shudan against the undead horde from the
Redwind Mountains. In the years that followed he became something of a defacto leader of the group, even though every Mahori is technically ranked equally and reports directly to the
Eastwind. As such, he spends more time in
Zonyashi than any other Mahori, and handles political and diplomatic tasks for the group.
Appearance
The Golden Rise wears silver and golden colored plate armor with a matching golden shield. Both are emblazoned with the warhammer and scales of
Hiega. He sometimes wears the matching helmet and visor, which obscures his face entirely, but is frequently seen without it while attending to political or diplomatic work. His face is that of a man in his late forties with piercing blue eyes and shoulder length black hair. He also carries
Manastorm on his back, and a smaller silver shortsword on his hip.
