Squigglies

Squigglies are prototype autonomous mining drones created by DexCorp. Originally codenamed Project Thrall because a large number of units could be controlled by a central command beacon, they were designed to reduce labor costs involved in off-world mining operations.   Project Thrall was the brainchild of Brenn Donn, the former Sub-Executive Principal Accountability Supervisor of DexCorp's Arms Servo Division. Once considered to be a rising star, Brenn lost credibility with the company when his prototypes disappeared mysteriously - rumored to have been stolen. The crew later found these prototypes in The Ravages, under the control of Jerryd the Dread Marauder.   Squigglies have a body that appears insectoid in appearance in addition to numerous appendages in the form of long, segmented tendrils that move with uncanny fluidity.

Power Generation

Squigglies operate off of battery packs that are charged by docking with their command ship. They are usually able to stay operational for extended periods of time away from the ship unless they are actively using their mining lasers, which consume a lot of energy.

Weapons & Armament

Squigglies are equipped with a single powerful short-range mining laser on their main body and a dozen smaller precision lasers that can be emitted from their tendrils. They are fearsome opponents in close quarters, as their lasers are able to cut through armor. They are especially dangerous in swarms.   Though they are agile and boast high damage output, they are unarmored and ultimately fragile, and they will sometimes go down with a single good hit.
