Master

“Ton ëcim o ha-keĺe to ańaśiḿ wa śvẹ ka, ha-keĺe o ton ëcim to ańaśiḿ wa śvẹ ka, zën ańaśiḿ o ëc oqhi keĺe ġha sa jyạośvẹ ka.”

The professionals and teachers of Amity City.

Qualifications

Requires the successful completion of a big project one's master assigned to showcase one's skills when they thought one was ready to end one's Apprenticeship; this is appropriately called a “Master's Project.” The nature of one's Master's Project will be different depending on the field one is going into.

Requirements

It's generally agreed that an Apprentice must study under a master for at least a year and be sixteen or older before they're eligible for master status, themself.

Appointment

Master status is usually appointed during a gathering one's master holds to show off one's completed Master's Project. If one doesn't desire a gathering, one's master can simply sign one's paperwork at the Palace without fanfare.

Duties

It's generally expected that a Master should take on at least one Apprentice in their lifetime.

Responsibilities

Aside from facilitating the education of any Apprentices one takes on, these are different depending on the field one works in.

Benefits

Paid more than Apprentices are.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Different depending on the field one works in, once again.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Malpractice in one’s job and the neglect or endangerment of an Apprentice will both result in the immediate revocation of the title by the Amitian City-State, regardless of the field one works in.

Cultural Significance

While it does make it easier to attain employment, the title isn't overly prized for this as a firsthand demonstration of capability will also suffice. Far more prized is the increased likelihood of being asked to educate an Apprentice due to the much shorter legal registration process.   Cultures in the Sensorium universe almost universally consider the passing on of one's knowledge extremely important, due to the much larger jiapathic (anglicization of Amitian Creole ⟨jyǎṕäsik⟩ /ʥjɑ̤.pʲæᵴ̪.ɪ̈k/ “autistic”) population. Jiapaths are more likely than non-jiapaths to naturally use info sharing as a way of forming and strengthening social bonds rather than as a way to assert social dominance; in fact, it's not at all unusual for a master and Apprentice and/or Apprentices who studied under the same master to wind up becoming haṙjjyǎ /ˈhɑɹȡ̚.ʥjɑ̤/ in Amity City.
