The USC Starguard

"The Wicked will be Punished. The Righteous will be Redeemed."

Created & Written by Khali Crawford
The USC Starguard is the official armed forces of the USC Federal Government and is only responsible for defending USC Realms and Sectors opposed by foreign hostile powers as well as waging war on said powers. Member Realms employ Guardsman Corps locally for internal military matters, operated by Member Realms own Department of Military Operations, the Office of Internal Forces. The Guardsman Corps of a Realm are only subservient to their local Realm and can be used externally if the situation arises. Before the Great War in Heaven, the USC Federal Government placed tight restrictions on how powerful the Guardsman Corps could be, which resulted in many Realms being destroyed or leaving the USC altogether becuase they could not defend themselves and the Starguard was stretched far too wide to be effective everywhere. Major reform during the war gave far greater autonomy to the Guardsman Corps which allowed the USC as a whole to come out of the war with a stronger military presence overall when compared to some superpowers.

Structure

  • Office of Army Operations / Starguard Army Corps (OAO), "We Are Many."
  • Office of Naval Operations / Starguard Navy Corps (ONO), "Duty. Honor. Sacrifice."
  • Office of Marine Operations / Starguard Marine Corps (OMO), "Come And Take It."
The Office of Army Operations (OAO) represents the largest contingent of the armed Star Guardians, operating under the command of the United Star Coalition (USC). Their primary focus lies in Land-Terra-based operations. The Office of Naval Operations (ONO) serves as the counterpart to the Army, overseeing the operational and managerial aspects of the USC Starship fleets and armadas engaged in Atmosphere-Star-based operations. The Office of Marine Operations (OMO) consists of the elite super soldiers within the Starguard, embodying the utmost bravery and representing the finest selection from USC. They excel in dire circumstances, ensuring the success of the Legions.
Each Office allocates a specific proportion of its forces to individual Legions, based on operational requirements. The Starguard encompasses a total of 500 Legions, with each Legion comprising 100 Divisions. A Division, in turn, consists of 787 Cohorts, and each Cohort is further divided into 12 chapters.
The Command Office of each Corps, as the authoritative entity, bears the weighty duty of overseeing and synchronizing the multifarious operational elements intrinsic to the military forces. Tasked with a pivotal role, they diligently engage in comprehensive planning, meticulous organization, and seamless execution of military missions, leaving no room for error or inefficiency. By adeptly coordinating the diverse components of warfare, they ensure optimal utilization of resources, strategic deployment of personnel, and the attainment of desired objectives. With unwavering dedication and unwavering commitment, these commanding offices stand at the forefront, ensuring the seamless cohesion and effectiveness of the military's operational endeavors.
Each Office is vast and complex, and all perform similar functions for their corps such as Operational Coordination, Intelligence Integration and Counterintelligence, Training and Readiness, Logistics and Support, Force Deployment and Management, Mission Planning and Coordination, Fleet Coordination, and Engineering and Technology Development. Some functions are specific to an Office and may have their own Agencies for a certain function, such as the Naval Counterintelligence Agency under the Office of Naval Operations.
Councils from each Office form the Department of Military Operations High Command, the utmost power within the Starguard on military matters.

The United Stellar Commonwealth Army Corps

"We Are Many."

  • FUNCTION: Land-Based Operations
  • RULING BODY: The Department of Military Operations, The Office of Army Affairs (OAA)
As the most extensive military branch, the Army assumes a paramount role in terrestrial operations, diligently safeguarding the interests of the Commonwealth. Its overarching mission encompasses the defense of land-based assets, provision of support to allied branches, and execution of ground combat operations. Through the utilization of a diverse array of ground-based vehicles, artillery, and infantry units, the Army adeptly carries out its multifaceted responsibilities. These encompass the establishment of territorial security and control during periods of armed conflict, engagement in peacekeeping endeavors, provision of aid in disaster relief operations, and undertaking of diverse missions within terrestrial realms. Notably, the Army's proficiency lies in its expertise in occupational operations, exemplified by its status as the largest Corps under the command of the Star Guard. Leveraging their substantial numerical advantage and adaptability, they assert unwavering dominion over entire clusters of realms within the USC, unrivaled by any opposing force.

The United Stellar Commonwealth Navy Corps

"Duty. Honor. Sacrifice."

Assets

  • Universal Communications Network System (UCNS)
The Universal Communications Network System (UCNS) serves as an expansive network that unifies all Worlds and Realms of the USC, ensuring secure and efficient connectivity to minimize delays in Inter-Realm communications resulting from time dilation3. Each fleet and armada utilizes Private UCNSs to establish secure communication channels, facilitating seamless coordination and preventing any interference or interception of signals.
  • Star-Stuff
STARSTUFF2 is a new form of energy created by harnessing the raw power of the Standard Universal Arts (SUA) via Void1 Energies. The SUA are techniques that allow for the manipulation of cosmic energy, a nigh-boundless source of universal power. While not incredibly impressive on their own, the USC weaponized natural energy via the Void to birth super-soldiers who can stand toe-to-toe with Dragon Knights. This formula and practice are called STARSTUFF, and those who are admitted into the Starguard Marine Corps (SMC) develop a reliance on STARSTUFF, losing much of their power and functionality without it.

History

  • The 22nd of Munth, Year 659 of the δράκων Era, The Fall Of Charlemagne The Great
The forefathers of the USC Starguard led an advance force on the Ides Realm stronghold to break Charlemagne's grip and prepare for a full-scale invasion.
USC Starguard Naval History
The USC Navy was originally the Royal O'Mei Navy (RON), the naval body of an Empire on the verge on collapse. The RON was the O'Mei Kingdom's strongest military assets, controlled by the illustrious Royal House Gojo who elected to usurp the O'Mei as the ruling power in the Kingdom. Duchess Ottilia Gojo conducted a domestic takeover of the throne when she stationed her armada over Omin Prime, renamed as Gojoria, soliciting the hand of Prince Yaman O'Mei in marriage under threat of orbital bombardment. The RON was restructured into the Gojo Imperial Naval Division (GIND) and remained as the new Empire's greatest military power until the advent of the Gojo Imperial Marine Division (GIMD) led by Supreme Commander Beowulf, which was now capable of challenging the Navy. Beowulf would eventually come to challenge and defeat Emperor Gösta, toppling the Gojo Dynasty. Princess Maj-Britt and whatever was left of her fallen lineage  took command of the Navy and separated from the new Hyguard Empire.
The GIND would disburse over time into various pirate guilds and mercenary guilds, many splintered into their own factions and some fizzled out altogether, but the emphasis remains on the fleet still under the command of a Gojo, Bhakto Kyidtodpa, who would play a pivotal role in the founding of the USC as one of the founding fathers. His fleet was small compared to an armada, but his forces had been monitoring the Charlemagne Threat for years. This in combination with his family's long history of naval superiority and combat experience made him the first choice for High Command Admiral for the rebellion fleet fighting the thinking machine. Bhakto Kyidtodpa is responsible for leading the siege on Ides and is credited with the maneuver that allowed the Valentines to reach Charlemagne's Court.
When The United Stellar Commonwealth was officially established, and the Gojos recognized as a Great Magical House, the USC Starguard Navy was officially named, incoperating elements from the Gojo coat of arms in their official Corps flag as recognition of their ancestors contribution to the war on Charlemagne.

Sworn by a Sacred Oath

The Starguard and the Archdragon Knights have sustained a long and prosperous relationship. The Starguard found their roots back during the Great War in Heaven when they stood against the invading Celestials, constructing the Greater Defense of Zah, a massive wall to forbid Gods from fully manifesting in Midgard. They were aided by the Archdragon Knights who found kinship with such raw honor and grace.

Under the Command of the Department of Military Operations

The Office of Marine Operations (OMO) and the Office of Army Operations (OAO) control the Starguard at an executive level. The 12 Legions are commanded by the 12 Superior Guardians who often will act of term, viewing the wheels of USC laws and paperwork as taking far too long to act. Likewise, the DOMO fails to always agree with the Guardian's action-first intuitive, but at the end of the day, both serve the people proudly.
