NONCANON Dragon Knights

"The good knights of legend who defend the Dragons of Old, sworn to honor and justice by their Oath Eternal, I assure you Sire, more suitable Guardsman could not be found if we searched all of Yggdrasil"

Created & Written by K. A. Crawford | 9 Knightly Virtues written by RedFrost Motivation, King Arthur: 9 Virtues of the Medieval Knights
The Dragon's Head is an old Order of Knights, dating back to when Her Grace, Hasadiah, The First Name of God, sat on The Throne of Yggdrasil. They have battled the Forces of Chaos longer than most species have walked and have weathered all storms. Founded by Uther Pendragon, the Knights of this Order is a warrior cast and strictly follows their Oath Eternal and is their way of life.
"When Wihakayda V of the Kaptonians conquered the 7 Worlds of the Myzan Expanse, the Dragon's Head-controlled planet of 100 was left all alone. Wihakayda had achieved a devastating victory, and 100 was relatively weak and without a fleet to protect it. Wihakayda sent a transmission to the Iron Knights, saying;   'If I invade Lakonia you will be surrounded and without aid. I will crush your cities and the infamous 100 will never raise again.'   Sir Knight Charlotte, Captain of the 7th Division, responded with one word; 'IF.'   To this day, the Myzan Expanse belongs to the V Dynasty, yet 100 still stands as a Round Table."

Culture

The Oath Eternal

The Sacred Code of conduct by which all Knights of the Dragon's Order abide. It demands absolute adherence to it's code, and those who break it worthy of neither pity or mercy.
  • Ⅰ. Courage:More than bravado or bluster, a KNIGHT must have the courage of heart to fight battles that are difficult, tiresome, or unglamorous and to graciously accept the sacrifices involved.
  • Ⅱ. Strength: A KNIGHT has its own Gods-Given strengths. These must be developed daily, for a KNIGHT will gain more from working on their strengths than they will from trying to improve their weaknesses.
  • Ⅲ. Temperance: Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. The temperate KNIGHT knows to abstain from some things and holds all things in moderation.
  • Ⅳ. Humility: Not every battle can be won. In losing battles, the failing KNIGHT learns humility and the practical skills needed to win subsequent fights to come. The humble KNIGHT knows when to retreat to be restored.
  • Ⅴ. Patience: A hurried mind is an addled mind; It cannot see clearly or hear correctly. The patient KNIGHT is willing to wait and make time his ally. There is a moment for action, and with a clear mind, that moment is clear.
  • Ⅵ. Mercy: Words and attitudes are dangerous weapons; a wound inflicted by an arrow heals, but a wound inflicted by harsh words settles in the heart. The merciful KNIGHT thus exercises compassion in his dealings with others.
  • Ⅶ. Generosity: A KNIGHT's treasure is not their own; it is theirs to grow and give away at the right time and in the right way; for a true KNIGHT earns all they can, saves all they can, and gives all they can. To a true KNIGHT, wealth is only a resource for which to do good.
  • Ⅷ. Nobility: Low-minded men are occupied solely with appearances, but the Nobel-minded KNIGHT upholds their convictions at all times, especially when no one else is watching.
  • Ⅸ. Hope: In the hour of adversity, the good KNIGHT is not without hope, for they know dark nights are followed by bright days; so times of bitter hardship are followed by seasons of sweet prosperity.

Public Agenda

"A KNIGHT Is Sworn To Valor;
Their Heart Knows Only Virtue;
Their Blade Defends The Helpless;
Their Might Upholds The Weak,
Their Word Speaks Only Truth,
Their Wrath Undoes The Wicked."

The Dragon's Head was founded with the purpose of standing against the various Celestial beings of the cosmos as a final failsafe in the event they forget their place. Many a world has been saved by the fury and mercy of these brave Knights.

Assets

  • Planet Mountain, The Fungnar Region located in the Alcyoneus 530 Galaxy
MOUNTAIN is an inhospitable world that the Dragon's Head uses to train new recruits before allowing them into their Sacred order. Each and every Knight of the Dragon's Head have all been Knighted on MOUNTAIN, as is tradition. The Stone-Fall Knights are permanently stationed on MOUNTAIN and remain hidden, ensuring young Squires are not seriously wounded or killed. Only 7 Squires in recorded history have ever actually been killed on MOUNTAIN thanks to the Stone-Fall Knights' work.
  • Planet 100, The Myzan Expanse, located in the Jelly-Fish Galaxy
100 was a nameless world that joined the ranks of the Starguard, protected by a small fleet of Knights. It earned its name after Wihakayda V of the Kaptonians tried to conquer it but failed, defeated by a mere 100 brave and courageous Knights. As such, Knights recruited from 100 are very robust and determined. The Centum Knights are stationed here, and guard it with their last breath, ensuring citizens never see war or destruction.
  • Planet Last Hope, The Klinroid Whatdaleko Cluster, located in the Alcyoneus 530 Galaxy
LAST HOPE is a world that sits at a crucial junction in space, one where virtually no other Starguardian worlds can be found. As such it is a safe haven for wayward or lost Knights who ventured far and wide. It is kept by the Blue Shield Knights, who defend this outpost against Imperial Legions, Bandits & Marauders, and any foe who should find themselves so brave, or foolish.
  • Planet Fall, The Proes Quadrant, located in the Jelly-Fish Galaxy
FALL is a massive graveyard world dedicated to honoring the fallen Knights of the Starguard. Graves to every single Knight, regardless of glory or rank, can be found here. FALL earned its name as the place where a great Knight, Valtorious, was defeated. The Valtorian Knights are the Gravekeepers of FALL, ensuring the dead are not disturbed and their tombs looted.

History

Uther The Lord of Dragons

A great many years ago, Her Grace, Hasadiah, defeated Pinsnaux, King of all Dragons, and scattered his kin across the lands. A number of them came to be on Planet Britania, worshiped by the native population. When this was learned, Archangel Manuriel and his Legions descended on the natives to kill them and the remaining Dragons. However, they would receive no aid from Her Grace or the Heavenly Host as Hasadiah had agreed to leave the remaining Dragons in peace should Pinsnaux submit to her blade.
However, the Holy Forces were repelled by a champion of the Dragons, the stalwart and noble Uther who, emboldened by their arcane might, defended the Dragons from the Heavens. The Britanians would go on to erect the House of the Dragon's Head, charged with guarding the slumbering Dragons. They would be led by Uther, granted the title of 'Pendragon'.

King Arthur, Hero Among Heroes

Uther had three daughters from his first wife, Morgana, Elaine, and Morgause le Fay, with Morgana next in line to take the throne. However, Uther had a fourth child, a son, Arthur. He was believed to be Uther's favorite as he had received the Pendragon surname where his sisters had not, ensuring the wrath of Morgana. After Uther passed, Arthur was banished from his homeland by Morgana who framed him for the crime.
Arthur and his Round Table Knights were ensnared and trapped in The Emerald Maze by Morgana, unable to use Majik in an infinite maze of Monsters and Daemons. The Round Table would not see the light of day for another 90-Thousand Years, finally escaping their prison to find Her Grace dead and a Great War in Heaven. Furthermore, the Dragon's Head was weak and decentralized, unable to defend Midgard from the madness of the Great War.
Arthur and his Knights got to work and first waged war on Morgause le Fay, who had usurped her sister and imprisoned her in the Chamber of Secrets. With control of the Dragon's Head, Arthur was granted an audience with the Dragons Morgause and Morgana were supposed to be guarding, and was bestowed with greater power with which Mortals could be defended. With the rebirth of the Dragon's Head, Arthur and the Dragons were all that stood between Midgard and absolute destruction.

The Bastard Prince, Mordred the Black

Arthur sired a son with a woman, Lisanor, of unknown descent, blissfully unaware of his sin. When Arthur married Queen Gwen and named their son, Llachu Pendragon, his heir, Lisanor's son, Mordred, would not stand for it and was consumed with envy and hate for the father that abandoned him. Mordred would hone his skills and eventually infiltrate the Round Table Knights, renowned for his skills and Majikal Techniques, but he never lost sight of his vendetta.
His chance to strike came with the discovery of Queen Gwen's adultery with Arthur's battle-brother, Lancelot. Mordred used this knowledge to pit the two against each other inciting a bloody civil war. One that claimed the life of Arthur, and saw Lancelot banished. Llachu, unlike the Order, discovered Mordred's secret and instead of waging war with him, sought amends, to move forward.

Military

The Dragon's Head has a small military body, its Knights, who are often supplemented with Guardians from The Starguard, making up in skill and power for what they lack in numbers. They possess 3 super battle stations that could easily repel entire armadas with no support;
  • The Will of the Western Dragon
  • Of Monsters & Men
  • Her Lady Righteous

Foreign Relations

You Have No Place Here, Old Man, Your Order Is Nothing But A Dying Relic From An Era Long Gone
The Knights of the Iron Order are seen as a dying religion of old men who refuse to move from their place in time. They are the only major faction with a larger focus on traditional weapons, even if they are Enchanted. They are subservient only to their outdated moral code, their Oath Eternal, which demands unrealistic standards from the everyday man. They reject the idea of massive control and only hold control over planets that have willingly and freely joined their cause. But above all else, they have such a threshold for mercy that makes them unlikely warriors, only dealing a killing blow if literally, no other option is available.
But, it is this same mercy that has saved many an Emperor, Tyrant, and General from the full might and glory of the Order. They bring in worlds too weak to defend themselves under their care, ensuring their people never need to pick up a blade if they don't want to. And their sacred Oath Eternal, for all that Knights claim, is never fulfilled, all Knights fail it at some point in time in some way. It is meant to be an idea to aspire to be, to always push yourself to be better than you are. And they fancy all forms of warfare, wielding firearms, Majik, and bladed weapons, so long as it is in service of the Oath, it is valid. The Order is an old religion from the era past, when you stood up for what was right, and cast down the evil and wicked.
They have no real preference for political gains and social standing among other major factions. Dealings with the Order are seen as taboo and only done as an absolute last measure, as they bring TRUTH and JUSTICE to all parties present, hunting down their prey to the ends of space and time.

Education

MOUNTAIN

All Knights of the Dragon's Head are trained as a ␀. Squire on Mountain. The Realm is nigh-uninhabitable, imported with deadly monsters and creatures from across the cosmos to test a Squire and push them to their limit. Squires are typically anywhere from 17 to 22 years old and can only be trained by a Knight of rank Ⅲ. Baron Knight or Ⅳ. Grand Knight. Training usually lasts only 5-6 years before the Squires are given one final test before being brought to Camelot to be officially Knighted by the Ⅴ. Grand Cross.
All Knights, regardless of their Sansovino Designation, need to be trained in Mountain. Those who fail to survive Mountain can leave the order or choose to enlist in the Guardiancorps of The Starguard to serve the cosmos in a different way. The Stone-Fall Knights are an order of Knights belonging to the Knights of Spur ♔ charged with stations on Mountain. They secretly watch Squires ensure they are not killed, but only intervene if the serious threat of death is present.

Bound By Duty

The Order was founded based on the principles of the Dragons of Old set, to serve as a median, a force that would keep Celestials and Divines in check. The Apostles are the caretakers of the Dragons, they stand watch over the slumbering beasts to ensure their rest is not disturbed. Despite their alliance, one is not to interfere in the affairs of the other.

Bound by Oath

The Round Table has a special soft spot for the Blackhammers, as they love weapons and the Forge happens to make some of the best known to man. The Blackhammers, however, don't share this overzealous love of tools of warfare. They see all weapons as an extension of themselves, as opposed to Round Table Knights, the brutes, who would weld an anvil to a polearm and swing it like a great hammer if allowed to.

Diametrically Opposed, FOES

Back in the 2nd Age, Kingdom Come, the Dragon's Head were allowed to freely and knowingly worship and side with Dragons, the very beasts who once waged war on Her Grace, Hasadiah. While she had her reasons to allow this, various members of her House saw this as the first sign of her weakness.
-
The Dragon's Head do as they please under the wings of the Great Dragons of Old. They opposed the Sacred Lineage because of their dogmatic tyranny which began to seep into all facets of life in Yggdrasil, dragging innocent Mortals into their celestial affairs.

Dragon Cult Honorifics & Conventions

Claiming one's heritage is usually done through the suffix in a name, traced back to two fathers via the Son / Daughter title and Blood title. For example; Loholt Pendragon, Son of Mordred, Blood of Arthur; Nathalia Pendragon, Daughter of Arthur, Blood of Uther. If the male line cannot be followed, it is tradition to trace heritage through the most notable members, for example, Balthazar Skyburner, Son of Balkyth, Blood of Balaia (grandmother).
