Appointment
The Mayor appoints the Fire Chief.
Duties
The fire chief is the highest-ranking officer in the fire department. He or she is directly responsible for the efficient operation of the fire department and has control of all of its personnel and activities.
Responsibilities
Final oversight of the city's Fire Safety Education, Fire Protection, EMS, Disaster Preparedness, and Department Administration. The fire chief may also provide technical assistance to the city manager or mayor, and represents the interests of the fire service when it comes to planning fire coverage.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The Mayor may relieve the Fire Chief at any time.
