Requirements
To apply as a firefighter for the N.E.F.D., applicants must:
- be a citizen;
- have a high school diploma or equivalent;
- have a driver's license;
- be at least 21 and not older than 35 on swear-in date
- pass a written aptitude test;
- pass a physical agility test;
- complete a mile and a half run;
- complete a 100' ladder climb;
- certify as an Emergency Medical Technician;
- pass a psycological examination;
- pass a medical examination;
- pass a background investigation.
Appointment
Hired by the N.E.F.D. as an "at will" employee, entry-level.
Duties
Complete Firefighter Training while assisting firefighters.
Responsibilities
Attend all mandated training events. Operate fire fighting equipment. Respond to emergencies.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
A fire recruit can be dismissed by a Fire Lieutenant or higher for any reason.
