Metro Area

Metro Area Overview

The game will take place in moderately large but fictitious grouping of cities in the Midwest (along the Great Lakes, and loosely modeled after Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit and Milwaukee)), that has a strong manufacturing industry that has been on the downswing in recent decades. There is also a fair assortment of high-tech companies also present, as well as a variety of service-oriented businesses. There is a very large public university and a medium sized public university, as well as two private universities, several community colleges and one industry funded technical college within the metro area as well. There are both a variety of upper-class areas that are controlled by wealthy families both those who founded the cities various industries as well as those who have been riding the high-tech and financial boom of the modern era. There are also several rough areas of the city, some worse than others, in addition to many middle-class areas. A wide variety of retail and shopping is also available, as well as a wide variety of entertainment establishments that run the entire gambit of what pleasure seekers are looking for, from bars and night clubs, to strip clubs and casinos, to sporting and concert venues, amusement parks, city parks, golf clubs that run from low cost public courses to the posh private clubs of the cities elite and wealthy; as well as many of the typical family restaurants, cinemas, fitness clubs, shopping centers, malls, and similar establishments. The locals refer to the area as the “Metro area” due to the fact that there are several moderate sized cities that comprise the area. There are also several hospitals within the Metro area including Centurion Medical Center, Argyle Medical Center, Grand River Hospital,   The Metro area is divided into several cities with the largest being Bayside, but also including Argyle Hills, Arvon Hills, Frampton Woods, Glendale, Lakeside, Lakeview, Southampton, Springfield, Thaircoill, Westfield, and Willowvale. Bayside is further divided into “districts”, with the following names: Clearwater, Eastside, Finance, Foundry, Grand Isle, Grand River, Highlands, The Hub, Isleview, Riverbend, Southside, and Waterfront. Lakeview, being the largest of the suburbs of the Metro area is often thought of by the locals as being split up into 4 districts as follows: Bay View, The Islands, Riverside, and South Point. The plan is for the Metro area to have a population in the ballpark of one to two-million or so people, with most of the Metro area being pretty spread out and not real densely populated despite the size of the cities.   With the entire Metro Area has a mortal population of about 1 million humans, this results in an Eldritch population of about 1,000. With about 5-6 Angels, about 120 or so Devas, around 40 or so active ghosts, about 20 Djinn, about 6-8 Dragons, about 20 Dwarves, about 40 or so Elves, about 40 or so Faeries, about 15 Gargoyles, about 100 or so Ghouls, about 40 Manitou, around 120 or so Orcs, 60 or so Osirians, about 20 Possessed, about 25-30 Questers, about 50 or so Reanimates, about 60 or so Revenants, with around 120 Vampires and about 100 Wer.   More details will be uploaded from the Shadows of Humanity master document as time permits...   The Metro Area contains the primary city of Bayside City which is split into several districts (Clearwater District, Eastside District, Finance District, Foundry District, Grand Isle District, Grand River District, Highlands District, Isleview District, Riverbend District, Southside District, The Hub District and Waterfront District), as well as the largest suburb of Lakeview City and its four districts (Bay View DistrictRiverside DistrictSouth Point District and The Islands District), and the many smaller suburbs: Argyle Hills, Arvon Hills, Frampton Woods, Glendale, Lakeside, Southampton, Springfield, Thaircoill, Westfield and Willowvale.
