Sella
A luxurious open litter, the Sella, served as a litter for Aon's royalty. Initially, borne aloft by four loyal subjects, their shoulders nestled beneath gilded poles tipped with the fierce visages of sculpted Tylluans. The base, crafted from a single, polished slab of Crann Beithe wood, gleamed with an ethereal white sheen, rivaling the finest marble. Its magickal nature whispered a subtle warmth, defying the harsh elements. Etched into the surface lay the sigil of the Kingdom of Aon, flanked by the delicate symbols of Kenmetta and the Wren, a tribute to Morgance.
A magnificent canopy of lightweight silk, its color perhaps a vibrant indigo, stretched overhead. Skilled artisans had meticulously embroidered the canopy with scenes depicting the royal family's illustrious history, a tapestry woven in thread for all to admire.
Inside, plush velvet cushions, promised comfort for a royal occupant. Polished armrests, cool to the touch, offered support, while a matching footrest ensured a relaxed posture during the journey.
This extravagant conveyance, however, held a history as turbulent as the emotions it evoked. The Sella was birthed from a love as tender as it was tragic. Commissioned by the King and Queen, it was designed to carry their frail daughter, a princess cloistered away due to illness. The hope was to allow her a glimpse of the outside world, to ride through the sun-drenched capital and feel the caress of the gentle breeze.
Alas, the princess, while curious about the world beyond her window, found little joy in public displays. The curious gazes of the people felt more like intrusions than well wishes. So, the Sella remained unused, a symbol of a thwarted desire.
However, the Queen, ever resourceful, found a new purpose for the carriage. She declared the Sella her preferred mode of transport when visiting the people, a gesture intended to bridge the gap between royalty and commoner. It backfired spectacularly. The public, already burdened by whispers of the unseen princess, viewed the Sella as an ostentatious display of wealth and a blatant disregard for their struggles. Riots erupted, both within the capital and beyond its walls, a stark reminder of the simmering discontent beneath the surface.
The King's soldiers quelled the uprisings, but the unease lingered. The Sella, a symbol of both love and discord, continued to roll through the kingdom, a gilded cage on wheels, a reminder of the delicate balance between royal indulgence and the needs of the people. As for the princess, her fate remained a mystery, shrouded in the same secrecy that birthed the Sella.
