Beaumont Family
The Beaumont family, now well-regarded in Edison, is not one of the city’s original noble houses. Their story begins with Lord Sebastien Thomas Beaumont, Morgana’s grandfather, who fled from the turmoil of the Ashwall Red Revolution. Arriving in Edison with a significant portion of their ancestral wealth, the Beaumonts narrowly escaped the brutal slaughter of the revolution and quickly established themselves as influential landowners.
Jacques Distar Beaumont and Abigale Martha Archer-Beaumont , Morgana’s parents, carried on the family legacy. They purchased a large tract of land high in the mountains above Eld, where they replanted vines brought from their estate in Ashwall. The Beaumonts focused on creating a flourishing vineyard and winery that, even during the Burn, remained largely untouched by the devastating rains and floods. Their grape variety, known for its drought resistance, survived through the chaos and ensured the family’s continued prosperity.
During the Burn, Jacques and Abigale were deeply involved in aiding their employees and the community. They provided shelter, food, and assistance to those struggling during the hard times, earning the love and loyalty of their workers. Their home became a refuge, symbolizing the family’s generosity and commitment to the people of Edison.
However, tragedy struck the family when Abigale died of cholera while on a refugee relocation mission, far from home. The loss devastated Jacques, and he withdrew from public life, leaving his businesses and responsibilities to his daughter, Morgana Beaumont. At the time, Morgana was still in the middle of her secondary education, but the sudden responsibility pushed her to take control of the family’s extensive household and winery. Juggling her studies and running the family’s enterprises, Morgana proved her resilience and determination.
Morgana’s abilities soon became evident. She not only successfully managed the winery but also kept the family’s investments thriving. Her leadership ensured that the Beaumont family continued to grow in wealth and stature in Edison. Recognizing her success, Jacques entrusted her with the family’s future.
In 1866 AF, Jacques remarried, taking Verity Chloe Blenkinsopp-Beaumont , a much younger woman, as his new wife. Verity revitalised Jacques’ spirit, and the couple soon had two daughters, Claudia Beaumont and Ophelie Beaumont While Jacques focused on his new family and stepped away from managing the winery, he left the business in Morgana’s capable hands, allowing her to shape the future of the Beaumont estate.
Although Jacques was knighted by the Empress for his contributions to the rebuilding of Edison, the Beaumont family remains without formal noble inheritable title in Edison. Nevertheless, their wealth, status, and influence have made them one of the most prominent families in the city, particularly for their efforts during the Burn and their continued contributions to the community.
