Kingdom of Baekje
One of the Three kingdoms of the The Sea Kingdoms. A theocratic Dictatorship known mostly for its fish exports, proximity to The Desolation, fierce navy, Ashen mixed materials, and repressive regime.
Structure
An absolute Theological Dictatorships with Lords and Priestesses declared and removed at the God Queens decision
Culture
The most repressed of the The Sea Kingdoms, the culture of the Baekje is hardy and structured. All begin the day worshiping the god queen and end it solemnly drinking the frustration away. Baekje has a rich but very structured night life as the God Queen Demands much joy and festivities but none with a subversive air. Though all worship few believe when pressed outside of the kingdom. For without the prying eyes of the Queens Gaurd, few believe in the tyrants divinity.
Public Agenda
Publicly the state exists to appease the queen, for if the Queen does ill, the desolation will spread to the fish and fertile island. It's political influence in the sea kingdoms is spent quashing movements towards republican style governments and foreign intervention. In recent years they have become supicious of their long term allies the Kingdom of Silla fearing it means to monopolize the alliance.
History
The Kingdom of Baekje's history is the fuzziest of the kingdom. Legends have its founding King protecting the island from the torrent of devils through use of a godly miracle, coating the island in a fog that hid it from the Devils. From there he would ascend as a god, leaving his children to rule. Some question this story as merely a powerful wizard deified. Others note it would not separate formally from the empire for many years after the calamity. Either way the kingdom would remain a Tabaxi religious bulwark and the premier stop for adventurers seeing access to the Desolation.
Territories
The island itself and many small strings of islands nearby including the lightly populated timber rich island of Hansung.
Military
Baekje's Army is small a Marine focused paramilitary Queens Guard on land, however it's navy remains a marvel of the world making a land invasion of the island incredibly unlikely. The Queens Navy boasts many modern ships of the line heavy gunners and faster pirate hunting brigs.
Technological Level
The City has not fully adapted to the steam age however its sailing technology remains a cut above its rivals.
Religion
The Religion of the God Queen is not totally monotheistic as it allows for other gods, but demands the worship of the Founder King as Sun God Baek and the God Queen as Queen of the sea and earth. The Priests preform less religious service as administrative service and worship is performed by daily prayers, work and tribute in the form of gold, as well as military service. most symbiology revolves around the moon crescent and the Sun.
Foreign Relations
foreign policy is set by The Sea Kingdoms however within the confederation it holds powerful influence over Kingdom of Goyoko as its navy props up its Dictator and has a growing rivalry with long time ally Kingdom of Silla.
Agriculture & Industry
The Island has little agriculture outside of river flooded rice paddies to the mountains, and volcanic infused local farms. Instead most eat fish from the shockingly rich lagoon and outer sea regions providing much of the needed food along with rice from Silla. However the island almost consumed by the city of its same name boasts much ship building wharfs from imported lumber, able to build a ship of the line a day by some estimates in its massive deep lagoon. It also produces a kind of volcanic ash used in fertilizer in Silla as well as concrete for walls elsewhere.
Trade & Transport
Baekje imports a constant stream of lumber, Rice, and Adventurers then exports a stream of volcanic ash, ships, and rare anomalies from the desolation and thus manages a massive shipping industry. It is also a leading stopping point for ships who chose to sail through the desolation instead of the pirate rich Free Fjords and Hobgoblin Khanate. It is said that more ships pass through the port in a season than live on the island itself.
Education
The populace is educated in temples to the God Queen where all are educated till the age of fourteen. Beyond which most travel to Silla for greater education.
Infrastructure
The city island is rich with cobble roads and farries.
