Biir Almaerifa
The lost library of Biir Almaerifa was once one of the crow jewels of jinn culture in Sabiralsahra. However, rather than risk it falling into the hands of their rebellious slaves and their traitor allies(As seen from the traditionalist side), it was burried in the desert, becoming nothing more than a fable for many years. Treasure hunters, scholars and adventurers alike combed that the sand for it, but it would be many centuries before the dunes would give up this lost treasure.
Purpose / Function
Biir Almaerifa is a library, storing texts from all the jinn tribes of Sabiralsahra, including several, rare one-of-a-kind documents. It also serves to protect said tomes with a number of magical defences.
Alterations
The building was expanded several times to make room for its expanding collection.
Architecture
Solid, sandstone blocks make up the outer walls, with a couple of adorned pillars in front. Inside, the floor is plated with brass, a traditional choice for jinn. The building is divided into several sub-archives and a few facilities such as reading rooms.
Defenses
Several of the archives have their own defenses, ranging from illusions to spells that slay and reanimate those who touch the books as jinn-cursed ghoul. The most important archive is also locked with passwords and magic.
Additionally, the library was deliberatly buried during The War of Broken Chains to keep the knowledge out of the hands of the rebel slaves.
History
The five tribes of Sabiralsahra's jinn produced many great works of literature, though it was spread so far and wide that even they themselves wouldn't often have trouble tracking down specific works. The plans for a great library was eventually drafted, at first to be placed in the capital city of Madinat Aljamr. Several groups of jinn, such as those of Rishinile, protested this and it was eventually put much more centralized in the Sahran desert.
For many ages, it served as a gathering point of jinn knowledge, many great works copied and stored within its vaults. Mages, researchers, historians and more all journeyed to access its troves of knowledge, with each tribe being afforded a dedicated archive.
Eventually, the War of Broken Chains broke out and shifting frontlines threatened the library. The tribes eventually decided to bury it in the sands, to hide it from the rebels. They figured they'd unearth it once they won the war. But as the jinn tribes was pushed back, the library remained buried until 2993 AIT.
