Leray Agent
Leray agnets are each assigned to specific sub-communities for each city and region. There may be more than one agent assigned to the same region at a time. Sub-ranks exist within the agency, the three most common being assistants (who are often agents in active field training), standard agents (who most often operate in peaceful areas helping the community), and lead investigators (who make it a constant to snuff out the smallest and largest scent of crime for the entire region). They are commissioned for specific areas, and given orders by the agency; no other party. Agents may often team up or share less sensitive information to Leray gradyents. But most often than not, they are the magic police of Sprawn Valley, capable of making the arrests and keeping the peace. The agents are looked at by the government as localized defense, compared to the national defense unit of the General Army, and compared to the top national investigators of the FMCI.
Qualifications
Pass assessments and training needed to become an agent through the Leray agency HQ.
Requirements
Sprawn Valley Citizenship (lawful), pass several training courses.
Appointment
The assessment (for psychology) and initial physical test determines whether one is considered eligible. Not all who want to become an agent are granted the permission of doing so, as the job requires a lot in just one person.
Duties
1.) To watch out for unlawful or suspicious activities from every person. Agents are expected to protect all citizens and wielders, risking their life to whatever extreme is necessary to stop others from getting hurt.
2.) To take part in official investigations involving criminal activity or other incidents. Agents make a full report on everything they experience in their field.
3.) To serve and help out their assigned communities during peacetime, if none of the previous duties are active or pending. Agents can be an expensive asset to the agency, and so they expect agents who have nothing to do to help their local community with many physical tasks to help the future development of those communities.
Responsibilities
Agents who also make arrests are expected to use a modified teleportation symbol from a secure location as a means of transferring a criminal to Verlith Prison's outskirt zone.
Benefits
Fair wages for the job, access to agency documents and criminal investigations, learning of unique skill known as Light Lock.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Agent-specific dress spheres, supply sphere, Leray license card, standard issue Energy Blaster / Energy Rifle / Stun Gun.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Leray agents have a lot of protection from complaints coming from regular wielders and citizens. The agency takes incident reports and complaints more seriously when they come from other agents, commissioners, and highly ranked elites. Leray agents who produce falsified information or fail to properly fill out reports, or agents too often involved in certain incidents are investigated thoroughly. If there is evidence of severe misconduct (after a final suspension), that agent can be terminated from their job.
History
Created shortly after the implementation of a Leray veil, to ensure others wouldn't abuse their responsibilities of magic powers.
Cultural Significance
Because of their projected saftey net, Sprawn Valley's crime rate is mostly lower than that of any other nation in the world.
