Referee

Leray referees can be assigned to monitor a Leray battle for any particular wielder. They are often assigned with gradyents and Leray elites, because most of their wages can pull from the elites who are paid better than traditional wielders. Referees however are allowed to monitor and work for any wielder, but not required by every battle. The referee has elevated powers above the automatic reward/spoil system and digital monitoring program from the veil, capable of calling out and reporting on any misconduct of battle or cheating during a battle that may not be caught by the digital system or the license chip.

Qualifications

Referees need to be capable of actively monitoring every second of important Leray battles to watch for any illegal or cheating conduct between any wielder during combat. They are the first eyes and ears to see new methods that wielders may use to trick the current level of monitoring for exploitation of set rules. Referees must therefore pass a special class and be trained on what to watch for.

Requirements

Pass a special class, be trained with the roles of a referee, and put in several hours of active practice with Leray elites or gradyents before moving to other wielders. Leagal citizenship status in Sprawn Valley. Perfect vision and hearing.

Appointment

Referees cannot be appointed to general wielders, gradyents, or regular elites. But existing referees can be appointed to serve as referees for the tower elites, working directly for the league of elites, and are appointed by their current elite or gradyent given the recommendation.

Duties

Monitor all assigned battles to ensure all results from start to finish are fair and legal; without fault.

Responsibilities

Monitor all assigned battles to ensure all results from start to finish are fair and legal; without fault.

Benefits

Referees make a portion of wages based on what their assigned elite or gradyent is willing to pay them. Referees who are appointed to become a tower referee will therefore make much higher wages. Being paid more credits in the career is the general motivation for most freelancing referees.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Referees do not need any real equipment to do their work, just the ability to see and hear really well. They often carry some form of communication to report into their assigned Leray wielder and a digital license made for credit storage. The upper level referees however carry Dark Magic Measurement Systems (DMMS): An expensive device that works with the veil to detect in the localized area of a specific Siriean dome whether or not dark magic was invoked.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Referees can be fired by their appointed wielders at any time, but doing so for the highly ranked referee often invokes an investigation before the termination is made official.

Cultural Significance

Referees are honored in society, and feared by those who would try to cheat the rules of the veil or Siriean dome.
