Batteries from Earth
Back on Earth, renewable energy is abundant and batteries to store that energy are a very important resource. As a result the designers of the Colony Ship created special batteries to be used when arriving at a new planet.
Since batteries rarely last more that 10-20 years, they had to design a battery that could be stored with the acid component seperate and then be assembled when they arive on the new planet 85 years later.
Using the best technology available on Earth in 2055, the scientist designed the most durrable and versatile battery they could. They chose to go with a more easily reproduced technology at the expense of performance.
These lead, copper, and zinc casings simply needed the battery acid to be poured into them and sealed, and they would function. The battery acid was stored in dry powder form in seperate containers that would need water added.
All of this was put in the most durable cases that should protect the base components of these batteries for well over 1,000 years if needed.
When the Colony Ship made it to the planet Olo and crashed into Northwinds Pass not all the batteries were accounted for. Even 2,000+ years later, archeologists can still find these batteries in their environmentally sealed containers.
With a little bit of mixing, these can still be used today. Characters like Charon and Seraph collect these to use in their experemental tech, while the average person just sees them as some ancient, or even magical, relic.
