Episode 3.09: Escape Velocity, Chapter 9
The planet Chalcedon is a hive of activity. It’s fledgling defense grid works tirelessly, scanning for any and all incoming threats. BoSS ships patrol near space with an aggressive intensity. They are quick to stop and inspect any incoming vessel bound for the planet.
Little does the crew of the Night Sparrow know that fear lurks large behind this stout defense. A hint of dread, a threat, that has burrowed into daily Chalcedon life. It took root, and like any weed is starting to grow in the dry soil. Soon, it will sprout the bitter fruit of the Dark Side.
Even now, agents of Sargon Xan Daran work tirelessly to undermine this defense. All the while, working to prepare the final stages of a long term plan that could collapse the Freedworlds Republic in time for the arrival of Sargon and his Katana Fleet.

Goals
Meetings were arranged between Imperial Consort, Duke Yeager and Lieutenant Felderk Jessip. Likewise, Chief Librarian Ambi Trulam of the Tolla Archive Station contacted the Sector Rangers to collect both Nassha Tomesta and Alina Zargat on a list of charges from vagrancy, assault, and more. With a last few words to Commissar Celestima, her Explorers leave the station to continue their journey back to Chalcedon.
On the return trip, they escort the Imperial frigate Chimera to the gas giant Monorik and its collection of moons with mining colonies. A quick stop to meet the Imperial Consort and introduce him to Lieutenant Jessip and a bright new future.
But on Chalcedon life isn’t quite how they left it.
Security is at an all time high, with BoSS ships aggressively patrolling inner space, alongside the Freedworlds Defense Forces. Contraband checks are on the list, but the highest item of the day is droid and crew inspections for viral contamination. Especially the Reaver virus which had been weaponized then delivered through bulk freighters.
On the surface, security scans are common especially with doorway scanners checking anyone not for weapons, but unusual cybernetics. Enhancements that are a technological bridge between droid components and cybernetics installed in organic beings.
Worse, tensions run high as General Vance Kerplokin has been missing for over a week after vanishing into the Rift. He had been chasing what may have been a spy but the report was broken and sketchy, with a warning of “disguised combat droids” infiltrating all of Chalcedon communities.
