Corellon Larethian is the origin of the elves. That is not to say that Corellon created them, but that they came into being through Corellon.
Now, Corellon loves the elves (save the Drow) and loves to hear their stories from throughout the Multiverse, and the elves worship Corellon as the greatest among their gods.
