Ãkthi

Ãkthi once was the quintessential High Elven state, and was certainly the oldest known such High Elven realm.

History

Ãkthi is the oldest High Elven State in existence, and its founding in 0 AF is the start of the Corvalan Elvish Calendar. Indeed, "AF" stands for "After the Founding," referring specifically to the founding of the State.
In the sixth millennium AF, the Tur Succession Crisis ended with the ascension to the throne of Ifodô Lîfidîth Tur, the youngest sister of Ifodô Vôfîpchash, who had died in 5505 AF without a designated heir. Lîfidîth instituted a reign of terror, which cemented her place on the the throne. In 5912, she surrendered her mortal life in a vile ritual that saw her become a lich, and she became known henceforward as Tuh-Shenfadth Lîfidîth (Lich-Queen Lîfidîth). As Lich-Queen, Lîfidîth ruled - at various times - Ghruzhikk, Leygyi, and various other locales.

On this day, soaked though it may be in the blood of our people, even as we mourn their deaths, we rejoice. For today, by the grace of Divine Corellon and the Goddess, we are delivered from the clutches of Lîfidîth, whose name henceforth in this realm, when it must be spoken at all, shall be Tuh-Shenfâdth Idthrobvinâth, for the blood of many is upon her hands.

In 7984 AF, Lîfidîth was driven out of Ãkthi and defeated (though not permanently killed, regrettably) by the Council of Yerukâs, the leadership of the Priesthood of Corellon, led by Yeruk Chish Efelun I, who became the new leader of Ãkthi. Since that time, the Yeruk Chish (High Priest of Corellon Larethion) has been the ruler of the realm, and does so in that god's name.

The reformed theocracy that is modern Ãkthi has embassies or consulates in Vvathaf, Sabvath, Melurie, and the Estinos Imperium.

The minted currency is used internally in Ãkthi, but is more commonly used for transactions outside the borders of the realm. Within their own borders, the Ãkthun often prefer trade-in-kind, with elaborate social codes for relative values that are learned and reinforced as children. No systematic written accounting of these relative values, often leaving the rare outsider in their realm at a complete loss as to the value of any given trade.
