Estinian Imperial Senate

The Imperial Senate is the sole legislative body in the Imperium. It is descended from the Senate of the old Itaran Republic.
The Senate is largely a symbolic body. In most cases they debate and vote on items brought before them by the Emperos. Their senatus consultae in these matters do not carry the weight of law, but they are very important politically to the Emperos, as they can point to them as approval or disapproval of a course of action in the future, granting political cover.
The Senate also serves as the Electors when an Emperos dies without clear or legal heir. Their decision is considered binding, though it has been ignored from time to time.
