When Emperos Florianus increased the Praetorian Guard from 4 Cohorts to 4 full Legions, he created a senior commander named the Legatus Magnus Praetorium. In theory, this commander outranks the Legati Augustii Pro Praetorae in all the provinces, though he never ventures away from the Praetorian Guard, which itself remains in or around Estinople unless the Emperos is traveling.
