Sykane is a power who approached
Osrin through a ritual of three dreams. The first two were nightmares the likes of which are not unfamiliar to Osrin, and may have passed relatively unremarked upon had it not been for the third, which Sykane interrupted, first using the guise of
an old friend of Osrin's before adopting a different form.
Sykane seems sweet in comparison to other powers who have approached the characters, and pled to Osrin in the name of mercy and protection. She offered Osrin the ability to heal as well as hurt, claiming all she wanted was to be able to alleviate unnecessary suffering in
Barovia.
Immediately after making the deal with Sykane, Osrin discovered one of the perks of such arrangements, when in her initial fight with Strahd, she was given a surge of power and strength beyond her normal means the minute she was in danger of falling. However, as time wore on, Osrin began to realize the deal was not all it was meant to be, especially when she found herself forced to resurrect
Spré against her will.
Eventually, Osrin became the first of her party to successfully break an established pact with a
Dark Power.
