Lake Tepi
Lake Tepi is an endorheic lake formed by water running off from the surrounding area and being captured over deep clay deposits which form a large bowl with nowhere to escape. Although there is no water source adding to the lake, sufficient water is usually captured during the annual rains to keep the lake full.
In years when there has been insufficient inflow of water to refill the lake, spellcasters have been hired by the town to magically add water to do so.
As the residents of Ka-Tepi are very aware of how precious their water source is, there are draconian punishments for any actions which would risk fouling or otherwise contaminating the lake. All water used in the town is captured after use, then carefully filtered and pumped through the farms surrounding the lake before it returns to the main body of water. Separated nightsoil ponds to one side of the oasis form a marshy filtration and purification system, before the nutrient-laden water gradually flows through the ground to the surrounding farms.
