Malleate

A very malleable supervillain. Or maybe it's not that he's all that flexible, as much as he makes everything else so.
Also known as Zephan Avigdor, he's a highly ranked member of the Chaos Coalition, and an incredibly powerful supervillain. His power is to change things from one substance to another. It doesn't work on living tissue. With particular substances he can then manipulate them into shapes like giant hands or snakes or something of that ilk.
While the Coalition doesn't tend to have formal leadership, he is undoubtedly one of them.
His goals as a villain are quite simple. He hunts down those from a particular terrorist organization, and he goes after any governments or companies that he feels have assisted this organization in some way.

A Changeable Past

He keeps most of his past to himself, but there are a number of stories about him anyway. None of them are true, or at least not entirely true. For example, if any of them speak of him transforming a living person, that's a lie. It doesn't mean that he didn't kill the person in question, but he didn't do it by directly changing them.
The changing theories about his backstory are a part of what makes Malleate so compelling to a lot of people. Some theorize that he can secretly time travel and change the stories themselves.
All in all, it's very useful in keeping his true past hidden.

A Few Notable Faceoffs

A villain as active as Malleate is going to have a lot of battles against a lot of people. One of the more popular ones is an older one against Lightman . Malleate ended up defeating himself by transforming surfaces into a metal reflective enough that Lightman was able to amplify his own abilities.

A Difficult Change

It's unusual, but not impossible, for Initialization of powers to occur as an adult, with the vast majority occurring as an adolescent, and fewer as a child. Malleate was an adult when his powers developed.
There was an incident at the government building where he was working, and the building was destroyed. Interestingly, the destruction isn't what caused the change. Another Enhanced was there, and was able to use his powers to funnel the people near him into the Psiaic Dimension and then out again. Zephan Avigdor got lost instead.
By the time he emerged, he was a changed man. Beyond the powers he developed, he changed from an amiable, helpful man who regularly volunteered for several charities, into a stern, harsh man whose first act was to locate and kill the single person recorded on cameras as having been one of the terrorists.
