The Ribok Isles’ situation between Arlok and Delhiza, with Rela only a short sail away across the Sea of Svarungh, has enabled the local Cadgren culture to take great advantage of international trade, and its members to become skilled negotiators of foreign interests. Though the Isles themselves are little more than windswept rocks, a number of national delegations as far away as Rajan have built embassies here, and a shocking amount of gold flows ever through the coffers of the Eizu Trader’s Guild. The small town of Swamord is the most built up and culturally diverse: by loose count there are nearly always more outsiders here than Cadgren locals. The next-largest town of Jovins, being set further north, has a heftier contingent from the Arlokian continent. However the Cadgren are incredibly giving and good-natured people, and their hospitality legend. Visitors from anywhere are always made to feel welcome.   One possible exception to the above is the The Cult of Oirae. Given their proliferation of wealth, the Cadgren have been long-wooed by rich Rellans hopeful to establish a branch of the Treasury of Ocophel on the islands, a move they hope would add to their “spiritual attainment”. To date, the Cadgren have been very resistant to the proposal and, while stopping short of formally decrying Oirae, clearly do not view this divine figure as a legitimate addition to the Ascended pantheon. Because of this, Rellans, whether affiliated to the Cult or no, tend to have a harder time navigating the Islands than most.   Through their mercantile proceeds, the Cadgren constructed several wondrous sites to honour the faith of Läänti Ascendism, including Vagabond’s Venture on the island of Argawad, and the Wanderer’s Wonder on Yagmit. (Cadgren naming conventions tend towards the quaint.) Both sites are comprised of long wooden walks that pilgrims navigate by inching forward on their knees. Once arriving at terminal maritime shrines, offerings are placed and prayers recited to the patron Aspect of the Ribok Isles, known as The Shifting Winds.
